Talking 2.5 DOHC compatible intake manifolds/fuel rails

can someone provide a small list of intake manifolds/ rails that will bolt up to a set of 2.5 DOHC NA heads?

i need something semi cheap but still worthy. i hate buying junkyard engines for parts. so i'd like to look here for the newest compatible manifolds and rails sets.

i can try and start things off,

-EJ20G
-V4 STi/WRX
-02 WRX? anyone? too new?

The NEWEST would be from the '99 Legacy Outbacks as they still run the 2.5L DOHC heads. I'm not sure if this is the same for the '99 Legacy 2.5GT.

96-99 Legacy 2.5GT
97-99 Legacy Outback
97-98 Forester
98 Impreza 2.5RS

"STORM"-

any pre 01 DOHC with inline(not opposed) bolt/mount holes should work fine.

so that excludes my thoughts on 02 WRX.

And ANY 89-96 EJ20G, 97-98 EJ20k and any of the EJ20h or Ej20r twin turbos from 94-98. As was mentioned, it's about the inline bolt holes. The spacing was the same on every single variant with inline bolt holes...

so with that in mind.....

and kind of related...

will that manifold match the heads on the newer 205/207/257 variants? i would like to replace the EJ255 at some point with the newest baddest subaru offering(257 in case you wondered).

Wink

Nope. Basically none of the "numbered" engines' heads will mate to that inline manifold. The ej251, ej205, ej257,eje07, etc. Starting in '99 most engines went to an offset bolt pattern. However,as I hinted in my pm to you earlier the dohc ej25d heads have excellent flow and there's really very little reason to "upgrade" your heads later just for the sake of upgrading. Do a little digging and you will find the Cobb benchflow numbers I have posted that show the ej25d heads outflowing the ej205 heads by 10 percent or so...

matt- sorry, i had a brain fart at work.

i meant will those heads match up to all the newer EJ variants. not the mani. i already confirmed thru you that matches the heads fine. i meant will the heads fit the 257(which you already confirmed also).

work caused this brain fart. maybe i should not go in anymore? again, sorry bout the retardedness displayed earlier in posting

Those heads will match up to any of the Ej22 or Ej25 variants. I wouldn't put them against and Ej20 because of the bore differential, but some others around here disagree with me. BTW, another good cheap turbo build is to use the Ej25 heads against an Ej22 NA block. Depending on which exact heads and which phase of block, you end up somewhere in the mid 8's for compression. If I ever get around to building an engine to use with my supercharger it's going to be an Ej22E bottom end with my ported SOHC Ej25 heads. Right now, I am just shopping for a car again. That reminds me, I need to update my signature...

yeah me too. mine still says OBS-T(T is for turd right now. not turbo!)

i heard that idea before. bigger head area via 2.5 with the 2.2 bore is like 2.3~ and 8's for CR is great for mild turbo.

forgot about that idea til you mentioned it again.

What do you want for it? I won't snatch it out from under Keith, but if he passes I might be interested as long as the price is right. That guy on 25rs.com com asking $300 for one is on crack.

Take a look on RS25.com when it comes back up. Or even some of the Legacy forums and ultimatesubaru.org......

Someone's gotta have something for you.

I'm assuming modded wrx injectors would work in dohc fuel rails

found one on rs25.com, but need verification on it!

what are the differences between the DOHC intake manifolds from LGT's/RS's/forester's? evap and coil packs? what are swappable between themselves or totally NOT interchangeable. please advise!

im having STORM build me a DOHC engine(since he's holding and im in need), and trying to make sure i don't buy the incorrect intake manifold for it. im pretty sure the engine/heads are from a 98 RS. not 100% but i can ask jay if i need to. he's just not on right now!

please list the differences, and any mods done to other mani's to make them work, etc.

THANKS!
