Default My stupid neighbor backed a truck into my car this weekend

While moving out of her house, my neighbor or somebody helping her move backed a truck into my driver's side door, creasing the paint and scraping it up.

No note, no apology, no nothing.

I have no proof, but I am 100% certain it was her.

I really like my R32, but I'm beginning to think that I should get something I care less about so I can drive it into the city, leave it outside, etc without worrying about it.

No real point to this, but I'm taking the opportunity to vent...

.
This is exactly why we love our Bronco and take it to the mall, shopping, etc. It's nice to have something to not worry about and feel safe parking amoung the minivans.

Yeah - I'm tired of caring about it.

The problem is that I should be able to park my car in my parking spot at home and feel that it's reasonably safe. The worst part - they used my other parking spot to move and that's when they ****ed up may car!

most companies will sadly treat it as collision instead of comp

You shouldn't have to pay it for a comp claim, though.
Its under the same rule as "vandalism"

Now, if you registered like, 6, in a year...your rates might go up, but 1 won't affect your rates, and you shouldn't have to pay a deductible either. Cerial.

I've done 4 in the last 8-10 years. No biggie. Call insurance, 'splain you got a comp claim, splain sitch, give police report number (CALL THEM NOW!)...profit.

I like Layman and all, and I hope he gets his car repaired, but I'm not ready to offer advice or commiseration just yet. For all we know he mistook another damaged R32 in front of his place for his own undamaged R32. Let's just see how this plays out with his neighbor.

Or, I could just give his old one back to him, same thing.

No, seriously, I'm trying to take good care of it.

Why would you call the cops?

"Hello? Police? Come quick, someone backed into my car a few hours ago, bring backup!"

Call your insurance company...

Called USAA - sounds like it will be covered under comp.

This is still making me consider getting a car I don't care much about... something I don't check on when I hear kids playing outside.

Didn't this happen to you last year?

Anyway, while I do sympathize with your situation, you do realize, don't you, that stupid neighbors have been backing trucks into our cars since the dawn of recorded history.

My dad was parked in the street at one of his friends house, and someone backed into his Forester. There was a driveway right across the street, which is where the person obviously backed out of. They didn't leave a note or anything.

My dad knocked on their door and said "My deductible is $500." and the guy wrote him a check right there. Moral of the story: It pays to look like a scary old man.
