Default Ultimate Racing (merged thread)

I just ordred an up-pipe from them and I have not received a response to various emails (3 days now). Should I be worried?

Nothing to worry about, product was received.
I'll post later when I put the up-pipe on.

Thumbs up Ultimate Racing

Just ordered an uppipe from Ultimate Racing. Got the tip off Jorge's projectWRX site, where he raved about his. I ordered the 2nd generation uppipe that has a flex connector for better sealing for $195 + $15 shipping, so (for all you non-math majors) $210 to my door. Very patient and easy to deal with, answered all my questions, they're even going to weld a bung on it for me for my EGT probe. They still have a couple in stock.

I was also thinking about getting the same up-pipe... but i wasn't too sure about the flex pipe... Give up-dates on how the install goes and what you think about it...

And here's my report, as promised:

The extra EGT bung that I asked them to weld on it wasn't exactly a bung - there was a tapped hole next to the stock EGT bung - about 1 1/2" away. It also wasn't the size I had asked for, but I remedied that easily enough with a brass adapter from the hardware store.

Installed the uppipe yesterday/last night. Took me all day, as I did it alone, and I always take longer than the estimated time. I used the Perrin uppipe installation instructions on vividracing's site. The two EGT probes touch each other inside the pipe (see above), but without either one bending so I assumed it would be OK. I had a small plug handy in case I needed to move my aftermarket EGT sensor to the exhaust manifold, which I now think I should have done in the first place, since I had it off the car anyway.

Fitment was not a problem. The short flexible piece of the pipe allowed for perfect fit. I even got the turbo heatsheild over the EGT connections without having to cut it (they touch, but still fit). No exhaust leaks anywhere (using stock gaskets), and no CEL's (knocks wood).

Took her for a butt dyno run today to check out the performance. Slightly quicker spoolup, and I can definitely feel an increase in power.

All in all, assuming the CEL's stay away, I'm happy. My only question is this: What was the Subaru designer THINKING when he put the front O2 sensor there? I've been trying to think of a worse place to put it where it would be harder to get out/back on, but I can't.

Default Ultimate Racing is Ultimate !

Just wanted to give my thoughts on my UR Gt35r kit and the excelent customer service and tech support provided by UR.

The kit fits like a glove and those guys really gave me some great support and tech guidance.

I am very pleased with my decision to get a UR kit.

They are really good guys over there. very helpful, and Johnson tells it as it is. Darryl is very knowlegable as well, which definitely helps also.
Their kits are top notch, and I'm loving mine...I'm getting an engine built through Axis, and hopefully will go to them in Toronto for Tuning with my Hydra.

+12345 for Ultimate Racing!

they rock. theres no simple way around that. i got my 44mm EWG kit a couple months back

needless to say, after installing it this weekend, it didnt fit. i sent Darryl the pictures of the issue, and he found it VERY odd, since they hadnt gotten a report (i guess?) of their EWG kit not fitting with a Helix catted downpipe. they offered to send me a FREE downpipe (their DP, 3" flatflange, non-bellmouth, fine for EWG, similiar to HKS style DP), but catless. i mentioned that although i'm far from a treehugger, i DO thing running totally catless is irresponsible, especially since the gains from catless ( vs. high flow catted) are MINIMAL at best....plus id like to think ill leave the world a little better than i entered it. Darryl then offered to still send me the DP for free, i'd just have to pay for the actual cat (~$100) and shipping ($34)....and i'd just sell my Helix.

needless to say, i'm pumped. i couldnt have asked for more from UR....and this MAKES my day.

(this is awesome, because it was another headache, on top of the fact that i blew my motor last night , appears catastrophic). this means one less thing to worry about, and i REALLY appreciate it

thanks to UR!

Default Attention : Ultimate Racing.

I sent this via PM, and I believe everyone should be somewhat involved since this type of thing effects everyone.

For almost a month, I have tried to get a hold of Ultimate Racing, because they have my turbo (being rebuilt / replaced under warranty.) Currently, either they have it or Precision has it, but I do not know which, because over the past month, I have been able to talk to a human being a total of three times - once via phone, and twice via AIM. I have tried calling numerous times EVERY DAY, and no ones seems to find it neccessary to answer their phone.

Precision will not give me any information on MY TURBO, because UR sent it to them. UR doesn't feel it's neccessary to respect their customers enough to return / answer phone calls.

It does not take a MONTH to replace a turbo under warranty. This service is sub-par.

I would like to know what is going on with my turbo. Whether or not I will be purchasing a new one, or if you're actually going to send mine back and honor your warranty.

I EXPECT a phone call within a timely manner. As I see it right now, you have something that belongs to me. You refuse to answer my phone calls, AIM messages, etc.

Regards,
Jonathan Street

UPDATE - 6/6/2007 10:40 AM

I spoke with Precision, and they have not received a turbo under my or Ultimate Racing's name in a month and a half. I'm hoping it is an error on their part or it was sent under another name.

There has be a misunderstanding somewhere... they have always been nothing but class acts for me... Try sending Darryl a PM on here. I find that it is one of the better ways to get a hold of them when i have a question.

Also, i think Sal is also a moderator on one of the other forums... wrxfanatics i think? you could try pm'ing him on there also to get a response from that avenue.

Please give them time and a chance to do right by you. I know they are really busy all the time, and inevitably (and unfortunately) some slip through the cracks.

Give them time? I have given them probably over a month. They do not return phone calls, IMs, etc. I have PMed Ultimate Racing on this forum, and I am awaiting their reply. I know they've read it, because I have the read receipt. Like I said, I'm waiting.

This, other than legal action, is my last hope of getting their attention.

Still not responding to me.

I PMed Ultimate Racing a link to this thread this morning (and it has been read.) Apparently, they simply don't care about customer service.

Im have dealt with UR before (and plan on going back once i finish collecting parts) and have nothing but good things to say about them so this does seem unusual for them. Glad to hear that it will be resolved tho and i hope you enjoy your new turbo.

just bought my kit just over a month ago. they said it would be a month for lead time. they said it could be done in three weeks. it was done in three weeks. i had worked out a deal on the phone that they paid shipping on the turbo kit. well, they shipped the turbo kit and everything else i ordered at no charge. the kit they made should be put in a museum or an art gallery. the kit is awesome, they delivered ahead of schedule, and everytime i shot them an email it was responded back the next day, even on weekends. darryl was the best to deal with on the phone. simply said they are the best, and are +11111 in my books. ill recommend them to anyone.
