Default ecutek voltage issue

I had my 03 wrx sedan sr30 stage 4 tuned about a month ago. I had this custom tune done because I'd done the tgv deletes and p/p/c exhaust manifolds and injen xpipe. This was my 4th custom tune. The other 3 went flawlessly.

On this one, however, my tuner couldn't get enough voltage to or from the ecu to do the tuning on the dyno. He had to take the ecu out afte each run and tune it on his bench.

He mentioned it was probably a wiring issue but couldn't solve it w/o contacting ecutek and trying to problem solve the wiring issue (which would take a lot of time).

So he tuned it the best he could. I got home and was talking to someone who does Enginuity tuning and he said that he has heard of this issue occurring before and that he had heard it being an issue more often in a certain model year sti.

I just wonder how prevalent this issue is and does it mean that my tunes in the future will be compromised? I'd like to put a 2.5 block in enventually but I'd be afraid that this issue would cause problems when tuning it.

Anyone know much about this issue, it's prevalence and if it would cuase issues with a new block?

thanks in advance for any information.
