Default 2007 wrx = 224 hp?

I tried searching but found nothing.

Anyways the www.subaru.ca shows 07 wrx has 224 hp? what's up with that. Are they using a new testing procedure?

Maybe reality struck them, or maybe they pulled some power out. The shop's 07 STi performed almost identically to the 05 we had previously, stock for stock. If I could have launched on boost the runs would have almost been identical between the two. I noticed the 07's stock tune is crap, really jerky and such. Can't wait to get the AccessPORT for it and smooth it out.

New SAE horsepower measurement. It doesn't mean the new engines are less powerful, it just means that they are redefining how horsepower is measured on engines.

yes this is what I am guessing as well. But, the LGT hp is the same? It doesn't add up IMO. It's all still marketing I think.

I'd be curious to know at what altitude they took the readings as well. You'll probably see a 20hp difference from Halifax to a mountain top near Calgary.

There measuring the HP levels with all the accessories installed on the vehicle (AC, Power Steering etc.). So no power difference. All manufactures are going this route, since almost every car comes with these accessories anyways. So all new cars should have a slightly lower horsepower rating.

not necessarily.

SAE actually brought the hp of some cars up. Most Japanese manufacturers went down, while US companies went up. The latest Z06 went from 495 to 505 hp.

The Japanese have been over selling for years. It isn't just limited to Mazda, which went way overboard.

I would imagine that the SAE regs state that it's somewhere around 72 deg and pressure at sea level.

I just got back from a Subaru training course on that and the new Spec B's. So argue if you want, I just copied that out of my course book they gave me.
