I has teh Endless BBK.

Default Forrester heads, (dohc?), useful at all?

found these heads as I was mocking up my first engine w/ej20...
(part #soa4786180 right side, got the other one too)
with them on the block, the intake manifold will not fit.

they are apparently useless, gonna sell 'em. are they of any value?

wtlw? 'forrester head' search got me nothing, so...

bought 2.2 block & heads for a future build, fyi

Noob Justin

DOHC from a N/A block?
iirc a full jun valvetrain can be fit into them. And there is an extra spot to tap for oil or something. Been a while since I have dabbled in N/A-turbo stuff.
iirc those heads were used on rallyrcr's 98RS buildup that ran 10s a few years back.(block is forsale right now in private classifieds btw)

^^^ just got some knowledge pointing out that all turbo heads have teh dohc, so I'm going with that.

ott, I did not know that Dr. Nick, thank you.

they won't fit any block I intend to use tho.

Without knowing what engine they're from (the '98 N/A DOHC Forester, or the newer turbo'd DOHC Forester).

Maybe because you don't know how to spell "Forester"?

If you're using an EJ series block, they'll fit just fine.

I think I included 'noOb' in my op.

1. i/m: don't line up right, can't bolt it down

2. there's a part # in my op (part #soa4786180 )

yeah, they FIT just fine, I'm told the gaskets won't line up (trusted wrench I know) plus the aforementioned intake issue

3. F*** you

4. yeah, they fit, but see #1

i wouldnt worry about the head gaskets lining up too much. lots of people around on nabisco that use all sorts of block/head combos for turbo or N/A and they dont have any cooling problems....i know i dont with my motor.

the mechanic probably told you that to scare you off from your build. the dohc N/A heads from the 97'-99' motors are great heads, cheap and they flow well compared to other suby heads.

and you need to match your intake manifold to the heads you plan on using... i.e. ej22 heads --> ej22 intake manifold ej25 heads --> ej25 manifold.

try to get the manifold for the dohc heads, im not sure if the sohc and dohc manifolds are swappable.

Are the bolt holes inline, or staggered?

Josh: much appreciated, this is ALSO what my guy said. I know other subjects, but with this one, I'll take the advice that tends towards 'making sense', like the examples you gave.

Devil: staggered I BELIEVE, but I'll havta look... will do.

More than likely the bolt holes are inline. Put a 98RS manifold on it or better yet, an EJ20G manifold on it. I have a stock 98RS manifold if it helps.....but I sold the EJ20G manifold already.

If the holes are offset, use a WRX manifold.
