Default forged pistons in 2.o -- oil burning....

im about 600 miles into my break in on my forged piston 2.0 motor. and everytime i start the car in the morning it puffs out blue smoke until it warms up. later in the days if the engine is still warm i dont have this problem .

does anyone know why its doing this......

please help . im getting alittle pissed off.

I'm not sure about specific to subarus but forged pistons tend to expand more than stock ones so they do this until they're up to temp and expand enough to properly fill the bore.

Its quite common in small block fords.

Sounds like excessive piston-wall clearance, or a ring problem.

thats normal with forged pistons. Once they heat up and expand, the problem goes away.

You can't do anything about it..

so then i just have to keep an EXTRA eye on the oil level.

Yeah you should be skerd. Sorry, mine did that exactly and was determined to be poor installation. How much oil are you burning? And are we talking clouds of smoke or just small puffs? Some is ok. Lots... bad. Sounds like whoever did the install didn't hone.

well we found out the turbo was leaking oil . so replaced the turbo and got tuned , everything runs great now. thanks vf43
