Default Changing the oil

I was just curious as I was reading on this website http://www.geocities.com/hobiegary/hesitation.htm about hesitation/engine tapping from another post.

Quote:
When a new filter is installed, it is full of air and not oil. When the engine is started, the oil pump is pushing oil in and air out of the new filter.
Does anyone else fill up the filter with oil before installing it, or am I the only bozo that does it so there is no air being pushed around after a oil change??

/Mark

I always fill the oil filter first and put some on the rubber 'O' ring before I install the filter.

I worked at a Q-Lube (now Jiffy Lube) for nearly 4 years and we never filled the filters with oil. For one reason, most cars have the filter mounted horizonally instead of vertically. Another reason is that the pneumatic oil dispensers weren't designed to work at such a low rate and it could make a mess.

However, we ALWAYS lubed the gasket with a thin film to make sure it made a good deal and would come off a little easier the next time.

Mobil 1. Amsoil sounds great too. Synthetic, period.

I did that once with my WRX. That engine does run pretty high oil pressure.

I always do. I just changed the oil yesterday on a friends explorer and that filter is on a 45 angle. I still put some in there. Better than none I guess.

I suggest one of these too:

from our page too:
