Legacy So....I'm new

Hi

My name is QTPie and I am new a Subie owner.

I just got a 95 Legacy LSi (N/A). The car is my daily driver. I'd like to make some friends and take some drives.

I need a shop in the Scottsdale/Phoenix area to go to. I'm not interested in DynoComp or any of those guys...I'm not a tuner. I just need a reputable shop that I can go to that knows what the hell they are doing and that wont think they can get over on me because I'm a girl. Since the car is a '95 I'm also not interested in taking her to a dealership. Any reccomendations?

Anything I should look at right away? The car is already bought and paid for - got a great deal!! I had friends who also own subies take a look at it before I wrote the check. Everything is going well so far. Car is a '95 and just turned 150k on Friday.

How do I keep my leather nice without having to put seat covers on?

Thanks for your help. Hope to catch you at a meet sometime.

PS I need to have the car tinted ASAP...any reccos on a good (inexpensive) place and the laws on how dark you can go in AZ?

You should check in the regional forum that applies to you.

Most of the information you are looking for is more regional than Legacy specific.

Fibuz may be in your area but he doesn't come around all that often.

Welcome to the forum, we don't have nearly enough woman visit.

Thanks.

I'll post this in both and see what happens. I posted here for legacy owners to be able to share their experiences with me. I've seen some 95's post stuff in here. Thank gawd there are still a few out there! I almost thought I was the only one. I'm hoping they won't come back with any horror stories.

There aren't a lot of subies in the southwest. Feel free to post anything you like, I just wanted to let you know that we don't have many members from that part of the country.

There are plenty on the road still. You don't have to worry about rust so it will keep going for a long time.

How many miles are on it?

You may be able to get good regional help on www.legacygt.com. They mostly discuss the newer models but the people in the regional section for your area may be helpful.

You must post pictures even if its stock.

Not sure about a good non-tuner like shop in the phoenix area, but many of the tuner places can do your standard work without problems...dynocomp, RPM or FAT...stay away from vivid.

gf had her car tinted at Danny's Family Carousel Car in scottsdale, they did a good job...front sides have to be at least 33%, nothing on the front, and the rest can be as dark as you want.

as for the seats, just use them, then you can swap in STI or WRX seats once they're worn

ps, theres a good bunch of subaru people on azawd.org, and a couple of meets weekly in the phoenix metro area if you're interested in meeting others. this section on nasioc is your best resource for technical info tho(and sl-i.net)

Condition the leather with Mother's Leather conditioner or something similar. I use it when I clean the interior of the car, and it seems to be helping in holding up the condition of the seats. The seats hold up great, I have no rips or tears or wear other than some on the driver's seat.
When this car finally dies (I think one day it might ) I'm going to pull the seats out and put them in a newer L or LS if I can't get a Limited.

Thanks guys!

I got a WAY NICER welcome over here than I did on my local forum. I'm really dissaponted with how they decided to treat me. You'd think with the limited amout of estrogen around they would have been a lot nicer. Oh well. Thanks again for the warm welcome. I'll stick to this forum and the OT.

I really appreciate the advice.

If they'd realized you were a woman, they'd probably have been nicer.

Sad but true.

Welcome.

Be prepared for the OT. They can be rough!
