Default 03 WRX w/ EVOIIIBig16g Dyno tuned today!

Went down to harman motive today and got my turbo, injectors, and fuel pump installed and tuned...

I will have the dyno graphs up tomorrow but my numbers were as followed.

THIS IS ON A MUSTANG DYNO!

Mods:
Blouch EvoIIIBig16g turbocharger
650 deatschwers injectors
Prodrive boost control solenoid
walbro 255 fuel pump
Turbo XS FMIC
Cobb Intake
Titek CATTED DP
Helix Midpipe
SPT/Bosal Axle Back

91 octane - 20.5 lbs of boost
262/235
95 octane - 21.6 lbs of boost
281/260

Full boost around 4200 RPM, feels nice.

Here is the Dyno Graph

I am having an issue though...I get very slow boost building in third if I am driving fast. Let's say I am going 1 > 2> then hit 3rd geaer...well boost is great in 1st and 2nd but as soon as I hit 3rd it's as if the car doesn't go any where until after 5k RPMS...It's very strange

Here is the 95 octane dynograph

I'd be interested to see your boost pressure plotted on a graph over RPM. My 18G 7cm spools to 14.7PSI around 3800 rpm and to 21+ PSI at just around 4200 rpm with the eBay TMIC setup.

Nice! I have the same turbo and like it a lot. In fact we have very similar mods.
I think with some playing around you will be able to get full boost a bit sooner than you are seeing now.
Have fun!

Looks pretty good - I have a momentum 40t and it spools allot like that too. I have yet to be able to make good boost below 4000 rpms.

My analysis as a TD05H-18G 7cm owner...

1. In your case, this EVO3 16G doesn't spool faster than my eBay TMIC with 18G. I was really on the fence about whether to go EVO3 wheel or 18G wheel, but I've seen many dyno plots that all seem to show the same thing about spool between the two. (Now I know that the 18G with the larger 8cm wheel would probably be a bit slower, but who knows really?)

-- I think in this case, it's really the difference of FMIC vs. TMIC. I have a slower spooling turbo, but have a smaller and shorter tubing intercooler. You have the faster spooling turbo, but have added larger internal volume and longer piping. It pretty much evens out IMHO. I spool 14.7 PSI by 3800 and 21+ PSI by 4200 which is identical to your dyno plot.

2. It also appears that you are on the Prodrive boost control solenoid, which should really help with building boost faster than the stock setup. I'm still on the stock setup (well for a week or so more) until I put on my Perrin EBCS. I'm expecting my spool RPM range to lower once that is installed and tuned.

3. Power levels look good for the EVO3 16G. I think my only disappointment with that setup is the fact that the EVO3 is supposed to spool 500 RPMs faster than the 18G, and in your case it isn't. Other than that, I think the power looks pretty typical of your type of mods and I bet it's fun to drive around town.

They used to. THey moved to a huge new facility 3 miles from where they used to be.

and thanks for the break down on what you think...what do you think about the car not hitting full boost in certain gears etc?

What gears have you tried? What are the max PSI levels in 3rd, 4th, and 5th gears?

The factory boost control solenoid is not capable of controlling different boost in different gears. Your Prodrive boost control solenoid probably can with specialized engine management, but I would guess that right now it's not doing anything different between gears.

I have no clue why you are having problems as you described. Can you or have you logged with a laptop while driving to capture this event as you've described it? Use ECUExplorer or Enginuity to datalog with the Cobb AP cable and your laptop.

I dynoed 268/242 on 91 oct on Cobb's Mustang dyno in Salt Lake with a similar set-up but I am reaching peak boost just before 4000RPM. I purchased the adjustable wastegate and had Blouch port my turbo, but the porting should make it spool a little slower...???

I throw my dyno plot into the mix. My tuner wind up hittign 295whp, but some reason the dyno operator printed out a slightly earlier run, so I'll go with it. 288.6WHP, 300WTQ.

My most recent log shows 14.7psi right at 4k, 4500 it rockets to target and pretty much holds relatively steady to the target in the map untill redline. I dont have any dyno comparisons though I'm targeting a bit more boost than most 16g owners though I am right at 23-24 psi. It holds 5.5 load tapering to 5 at redline.

My FPEVOIII gets full boost (19psi) at 3300-3400 rpm with a SSAC FMIC. I have STI pinks, but I'm switching to 650's this Saturday. I'm getting retuned in Sept.
I really hope to hit 300whp, but we shall see.
