Well im new here but was told this is the place to get a bit of help with my project. Anyway as the title sais its a 2.35 im doing.
I have an EJ22T Block that has been modified to take the 79mm Phase 2 Crankshaft ive also got my ACL bearing Kit. Im about to buy a set of Wiseco OR CP 97.5mm Pistons. The part im stuck on is what Conrods to use. I was realy thinking Pauter BUT do I need custom one's for the 2.35 or is it just 79mm rods that will work ? Any help would be great. Thank you.

Stock Phase II rods size. Make sure your machinist adjusts the thrust bearing for the Phase II crank. Wiesco makes drop in pistons for this build. Sounds fun good luck.

With the Wiseco pistons you need 5.180" rods to have an acceptable CR, the problem is all WRX or STI rods are at ~5.137" You could get some custom pistons to try bring up your CR but I don't know if you can recuperate the 0.043" difference with relocating the piston pin. The problem also with Pauter rods @ 5.180" is that they are 48mm, your phase II crank rod journals are @ 52mm IIRC. I'm thinking about a crazy setup that will bring the CR to 9.0:1 using STI/WRX 5.137" forged rods, Wiseco pistons K602M975, phase II crank 79mm and WRX heads. I will post later tonight in my thread and you guys tell me if it make sense. ![]() |

I've researched this quite a bit and I have all the parts sitting in my garage for a similar setup.
For EJ22t w/ Phase 1 EJ25 Crank, Wiseco Pistons the only rods that will work is... Factory Phase 1 EJ25 Rods (I have a set PM me if you want to deal) Pauter SUB-230-510-1315F (Roughly $850 + ship) Outback Motorsports EJ25 rods ($500 + ship) - This is the way I went. For EJ22t w/ Modified for Phase 2 Crank, EJ257 Crank, Wieseo Pistons rod options... Factory Phase 2 EJ251 Rods (or any after market equivalent, FYI this is on SOHC EJ25 2000+) Scat 2-5180-2047-842-905 ($300ish, I think these are the correct ones, I've emailed Scat and they told me the measurements and it should work, I'm not sure they were intending on making rods for an NA motor, but I think the idea was for a EJ20 stroker but I am not aware of anyone using this size for that application) Pauter SUB-230-550-1315F (Roughly $850 + ship, note this is different than above) There are probably some more, just make SURE the rod length = 5.180" (in either build). Just make sure you pay attention to your journal size, first build = 48mm, second = 52mm. Last edited by ai42; 08-18-2007 at 06:06 PM. |

I will post my setup in my thread, I hope to see you post your thoughts there. Sorry cruizer22b for the hijack, but it's kinda related to your setup also. |
