Default 2.2 Block Question.

So i have the chance of picking up a 2.2 block but I wanted to know if it was a closed deck or open deck block. I am looking for a closed deck to do a turbo project on.

Here is what the guy sent me:

Motor is pulled from a 1999 Subaru Legacy Wagon. It's a 1999 2.2L Subaru Engine with approximately 30,000 miles on it. It is missing the cam gears, timing belt, timing cover, spark plugs, plug wires, and distributor/coil.

Also I was not sure where to post this so hopefully this is the right place!
thanks!!!

that one is going to be open deck, with single port heads.

as far as i know, the only closed deck 2.2 was the EJ22T from the 91-94 Legacy Sport Sedans and Touring Wagons (which were turbo'd). all other EJ22s are open deck, with the exception of the engine in the 22B Impreza.

also, i think it was the '95-'96 models that had the dual port heads, while '97-'99 had single port heads. the later models are not prone to the vicious lifter tick that the earlier models are notorious for however.
