Fram filters = doodoo

We cut one open in my shop class to compare it with the Wiks (or however you spell it) and it failed miserable. They look very cheap from the inside, they dont have an anti-drainback valve, the paper filter looks dead compared to the Wiks, and they use a bunch of rubber crud where the Wiks uses metal.

My suggestion would be just use the oem filters, you can never go wrong with em. If you have to have aftermarket i'd suggest NAPA or Wiks(at least from the looks of the interior).

^ BTW, just compare prices, last I checked Fram's are cheaper than the rest (and apparantly for a reason).

I only use OEM filters on my foreign cars. On my US cars, I don't care.

i wouldnt put fram on my lawnmower.

as far as for subarus, i use purolator filters as they were the oem for bot mf my cars, im not sure about if they make the newer filters or not though. but im pretty sure they still made the subaru filters up until about 2000 or so.

Default Lesson In Oil Filters

Anyone who thinks they know squat about filters needs to read this link. Fram is trash, don't believe, read. http://minimopar.knizefamily.net/oilfilterstudy.html
