Default When will the 2003 WRX be available?

I've been waiting until the MY2003 comes. Does anyone know when it's supposed to come out? Please say late summer at the latest (unless it's untrue).

My guess is probably the Summer of 2002. I would say about August or September.

Default its a fair question

solidforce- its a fair question. since, as you well know, no model year car is released in the year it bears. thus no 2003 is released in 2003. And, as you are aware, subaru totally took liberties releasing the my2002 wrx in the spring of 2001! so, since you knew that, you were being sarcastic, right?

anyway, my guess is november 2002. that;s when most seem to do it and I doubt subie will advance that date much in light of their very early release of the "2002" wrx. pricing probally fixed in october?

just a guess. and with a supposed "refreshing" coming, it may affect that release.

i hope theyll release the 2003 model sometime in the summer. thats when i plan to buy my impreza. and it would be nice if the rumors were true, whether or not theyll redesign it again.
and it would kinda suck to not be able to get a new model car when they will release the new car in a few months.

I think the redesign would be for the 2004 or later model.
I doubt the 2003 model will even have the new grill seen in Japan.

Thanks for the helpful (at least some of you) answers.

Traditionally, I thought the new model year cars were typically released late summer.

If any changes are to be made for MY03, I too expect them to be minor.. Perhaps a sunroof on offer? Course, then I'll be jealous, wish I had waited, etc. The grass is always greener..

every company is different. when I worked at the Honda Odysesy plant (for a summer), we start making the new model year's vehicles in mid-august. and for new generations, the date can get pushed back a if there are bugs to be worked out if there was major retooling is required.

Default not gettin mine until next year

Well, i MIGHT not be too sure about the facelift thing. You wouldn't think subaru would "refresh" the wrx after a year, but after it's been getting so much wrap for the looks of the car, makes you think twice doesn't it? Well, I kind of think it won't come out until MY04 either. But heck, i've got my fingers crossed for my03.5!!! Because wardsauto said that it'll be released early 2003. SoOoo, Hmm?

If i won't like the new design, then i'm sure any dealers still hanging on to the older looking models for a slashed price? Maybe my car will be a collector's item if i get the current design. hehe. Okay, well, that's just a bunch of my thoughts. Bye.

I wouldn't imagine the 03 would get the facelift. Anyone know any changes at all in the 03 model?

I agree. I'm not sure what they have planned for 2003, but it can't be much different than what we have now. I just don't know how long of a wait it will be until STI!!!!!

You should read the new issue of japanese performance magazine. In europe the wrx is now as popular as the gc8. And I guess alot of it has to do with good Ol' scoobysport.

I'm trying to decide if I can wait and noone has helped a da#$ bit. You're all worthless! My heads about to explode and you all sit around casually posting hypotheses regarding the STi, facelifts, blah, blah, blah!!!!

What kind of rumor mongers are you? If I have to wait too long I may die! Come on, focus!!

GM plants traditionally switch over model years in late June if there is no major rework. I don't know about subaru though.

Subaru usually switch model year in late summer from Aug. to Oct. However, if there is a new model being introduced, it usually will be introduced in NAIAS and on sell shortly after.

I think the discussion/debate about facelifts, retooling etc... is reasonable b/c if there's not much diff. between '02 and '03 models, its a mute point for you to wait. just buy an '02 in summer.

gumball,

I was sort of being sarcastic or trying to be funny but maybe you're right. I've bought late in the model year before and the value of a car that's made at the very end of the model year falls quicker than a car received at the beginning of the model year.

I jut sold a MY2000 that I received in June of 2000. It was an excellent car and almost a 2001. There were little if any ( I don't know of any) differences between the two years yet the market value of the car was the same as cars that were nearly one year older.

I won't be ready to buy until probably mid-May at the earliest so we're talking about a few months. I'm just so darn impatient.

Default 2003 WRX Release

I called SOA customer service line and the rep told me
August 2002 is when the 2003 WRX will be arriving the dealer's lots...

I really want one, but have no choice but to wait. I want SOA to fix all the current problems with clutch, ECU, Tranny, power steering belts, gas leaks...the list is almost endless!

Oh Well!

Most of the problems with the things you mentioned I'm sure have allready been fixed or are going to be soon. Don't hold your breath about the tranny. Everything I have read has stated the tranny is just as weak as the old one was in the rest of the world. I wonder what changes will be made and when they will be announced....Now it gets interesting. I wanted to take delivery in may-june.....If they did something major i may or maynot wait till august.

I just emailed SOA with a bunch of questions lets see what they say......

Let us know what they say! I would be very interested in finding out more about any mechanical/electrical problems that they have fixed.

Thanks
