Default Looking to upgrade VF34 to 18G.. question

I currently have AP and use protuned maps on my VF34 set up. If I were to upgrade to 650CC and 18G set up, how do I go about safely driving to a nearby tuner other than getting an emaps from PDX, etc?

What do you guys normally do?

Hey dude, sorry I can't answer your question too well, but was wondering where in the tri-state you're located? I have the same setup as you.
What is your color?

Could your tuner email you a base map scaled for the injectors that you could drive there on as long as you don't drive aggressively?

I thought i have heard of tuners doing this.. maybe not?

Disconnect the BCS so the turbo uses wastegate pressures and limp it there like a 90 year old lady on the way home from church.....

Problem is going to be the injectors, I have no idea how they will act without some sort of tuning....

What I did was upgrade to an ATP 3" MAF housing. You could also use a Perrin Big Maf. This will balance out with the injectors more or less. You'll probably still run pretty rich, which is okay, just limp it along. Otherwise you can get openecu limp maps for pretty cheap.

650's are too small for a 18g -- they'll work, but you'll have ZERO headroom. Think 750cc or bigger.

Honestly, you should ask your tuner. Disconnecting the BCS is a good suggestion. I would think slow driving and staying out of boost until you got there would be best.

Ask your tuner to send you a temp map so you can drive to his facility. Even w/ the temp map, I would try to drive it without boosting.

Good luck, let us know what's up~

I'd think you could just drive it mellow and not get into boost. When I did a turbo injector upgrade I couldn't get in for a tune for 1 week and I drove it all week, just not getting into more than a few pounds of boost. Never have had any issues.

? 650's are fine for a 600 cfm turbo. Hell you can get away with the 06+ stock 550-560's (whatever they are) with like you said zero head room...

I was on the stock injectors for a while. After a retune I didnt see any gains...just lower IDC's with a good safety margin...

It depends on who is tuning. I've seen 18g tuned w/ pinks and still had room on the IDC. Some tuners prefer bigger injectors. For instance, some tuners may want you to get 750's w/ the 18G. Ask you tuner
