Default drive by wire not working on 04 STI w/hydra

my friend just picked up a very modified sti with a hydra standalone and the throttle just completely failed on him on the highway... it's running at 2500 rpm and not responding to throttle input at all.

he unplugged and replugged the drive by wire unit on the throttle body but that didn't do anything and i told him to reset the hydra if he can, but other than that i haven't found anything about drive by wire issues with a hydra.

do you think it's just a tps or dbw issue? are there any fixes to that?

EDIT i just noticed hydra put out a recall in 2005 because a low voltage feed was causing hydra issues with a dbw circuit. that would suck if the guy sold it to him with a recalled bum hydra...

Looks like your edit already shows the answer. I was the first one to get that recall initiated, and can almost guarantee that the recall will fix it. For future reference, there is a Hydra section under the Engine Management section here that would be more helpful to post in, and there are also forums for the Hydra that you can look around in. Good luck to your buddy getting it fixed, I am sure he will enjoy it once it is running right

I thought Hydra units ran on speed density.

I can probably help you over the phone, but I won't type changes you can make to help becuase in the wrong hands it could be disasterous.
