I want to install one myself too, but I'm very afraid of the embrassing situation of getting the old shifter out and not being able to get the new shifter in.

This is a really easy mod. There is some information about this mod in the mods sections of this bbs. Just go there. I did it my self and it works just fine. It is a little difficult getting the little ball back into the socket but get a good sized hammer and a piece of wood and smack it hard. It will pop in sooner or later. Save your money you can do this yourself. Good luck.

If "State College" were SDSU, you could get it done by Kartboy himself at his place, no extra charge

Yeah, it's very easy to take the old shifter out. Just push all the way back and it will come out eaily. Um....to fit the new shifter in, I got myself a towel and a hammer, and I put in the shifter in one hit.

You would hand your car over to STRANGERS to install a Kartboy short shifter??! *shudder*

Just get a friend to help you out. All you need is a third hand to help hold your stick.

Thumbs up

If I recall correctly, when the short shifter hoopla was in it's peak, certain members were able to install this thing in a ridiculously short amount of time. I think I read someone installing one in less than 10 mins. I could be wrong, but I've heard that this is a relatively simple mod. I'll be doing mine in a couple of weeks.

Talk to Kartboy and ask him for help if you need it...it sounds very easy to do. Only prob ive heard is teh shifter not going in. Take a mallet/hammer and put a block of wood on the shifter and smack it into position .
