Default Need help, Is this normal? Scoring on my block?

Pulled my motor to replace a rear main seal, This is a vigilant street series Cp piston motor with 3k break in miles on it that always ran Rotella? Is this scoring normal on the block? I have been hearing an excessive piston slap sound that gets quieter once warm. But now i'm wondering what I was really hearing..

No, that's not normal. The crank should not be rubbing the block, your thrust bearing is most likely shot. Check the endplay on the crank by pushing it to the front and the back with a prybar, I bet you it will move a 1/4" or more because the bearing is gone.

Ive had two things that scared the s*** out of me so far. It was that block scoring. . also I looked down a spark plug hole and could have sworn I saw a chunk taking out of a piston. I guess it was just that wrinkle finish that occurs from carbon and fuel mixxing.

Woods- if you dont know dont reply

Op- yes those are the normal machining marks. And why did you drop the pan to replace the rear main? And why are you replacing the rear main at only 3k

The piston slap is common on CP motors. They are noisy.

I wanted to reseal the oil pan with red seal it instead of the black I had on it before. and I think I had some oil coming from the rear main. I wasn't the one to install the rear main seal I have no idea why it was leaking. It came pre installed.

suffice it to say if I need anything done underneath this motor I'm going to pull it. it's extremely easy to pull this and I can pull it in 2 hours by myself.
