The Hydra uses the "purge control solenoid valve" which vents the charcoal canister at the fuel tank into the intake manifold.

Phil,
We do not have emissions here in North East PA. Now that I have the Hydra what emission valves, canisters, etc.. can be taken off the car? I would like to remove all the extra crap under the hood that I can!! |

It opens the solenoid within a certain vacuum range to suck in the fuel vapors from the canister during cruise conditions.

I pulled the purge control solenoid out of my car and just left the hardline on the firewall open. I have noticed if I go to the passenger rear of my car, I have a faint gas vapor smell. I don't think it's anything to worry about, but it is there.

hate to bring this back from the dead, but i broke a nipple off on the purge control solenoid valve, do i really need to have one or is there a way to work around it??
I am running a Hydra btw. thanks EDIT: I capped off the hard line under the manifold removed the purge valve and solenoid. The line coming by the firewall is left to vent as of now. The MAP line to Hydra is going to the the little black nipple where the purge valve was connected. Is this right?? Last edited by 48mpg; 02-24-2008 at 07:43 PM. |

The vent by the firewall you can leave vented to atmosphere. The hard line attached to the rails that connects the line from the firewall to the purge solenoid valve can be capped off. The large nipple on the front of the intake manifold should be capped off or it can be used for boost gauge etc. The black and tan one-way valve should be removed. The Hydra will now plug directly into the intake manifold The vacuum port on the turbo inlet pipe that used to go to the black and tan one-way valve will be capped off. Thanks, Phil www.elementtuning.com Last edited by Element Tuning; 02-25-2008 at 02:04 PM. Reason: needed to clarify turbo inlet not intake manifold |

ok, great, i have the Hydra MAP line going to the nipple where the black and tan one-way valve went,
i want to try and find a 90 of that nipple to have that MAP line run nicer, thanks again phil with the quick responses loving the setup, everything seems to be running well so far, now comes the Hydramist install that i'm dreading |
