Default The "Who else is staying off the roads and away from airports this weekend" thread

*raises hand*

Vacationing blows these days. All I end up doing is sitting in traffic for hours and hours trying to get to my destination. Don't even get me started on airports, what a mess.

I'm staying local and loving it this time!

Yard works calls...and I dont mind a bit. Buying a house and getting married (2 weeks ago) is enough for this summer.

It's no biggie, I just manage around it. I don't take jobs that are more than a few miles from my house, and run errands after 7:30-8pm. The roads are moving by that time. :/

Huh. I'm sitting in our office, looking at maps of NYC, giving my coworker directions.

HE is sitting in traffic in NYC trying to get to JFK.

I'll be spending the evening, instead, having dinner with my folks.

Got 2 friends en route to come out fishing as we speak.

And my wife leaves tomorrow morning for 9 days back east with family and friends. Her trip is 3 legs tomorrow, so there's a damn good chance something will get ****ed up.

Who said that I don't travel? I just got back from the Cape and Nantucket three weeks ago. Sitting in traffic for 5 hours isn't my idea of a fun way to start and end a vacation. Just because I don't want to travel on a designated travel weekend, doesn't mean that I don't get out much.

I'm staying local, due to a combination of: no money to go anywhere, too crowded to get there, and my girl working on & off throughout the weekend.

I'm gonna make the most of it, play some golf, tennis, take a hike on some local trails, sit outside and read, go biking. Getting away is great, but since I can't do it physically, I'm at least going to do it mentally and enjoy a vacation state of mind.

because wifey keeps changing jobs, she has had 2 weeks of vacation. I've had 3+ weeks off for the last 7 years .... so it's been frustrating to sit in traffic when I could have taken 2 days off an avoided it completely.

Hopefully we leave by 3 today .... the thing that makes holiday travel suck so much are the "amateurs" on the road and the jerks who will try and sneak in from the left lane to avoid waiting on the exit ..... creating more of the traffid they are trying to avoid ... and yes, I mean you jerks who will block the exit off the mass pike to 84 when I'm going through in the left lane. And the people who will ride in the fast lane (aka EZPass toll) until the last minute and cut over. You all deserve death.

I'm spending the weekend unpacking at the new place, setting up some vintage speakers for some oontz, and having amazon deliver me some new Chemical Brothers, Tiesto, and some Red Jerry mixes.

they've been doing some mad crazy roaming DUI check points here last weekend, supposedly there is going to be a crap ton again this weekend. That alone makes me glad I can walk to and from the bar, not just because of intoxication, but the traffic is horrible during these things.

Good thing... there aren't any creeks or hills inside

Beware of stairs.
