Default WRX mention in today's Globe

Anyone see that? The author liked it, but then went on to bash the interior:

"It gives you the feeling you stepped into a 1980's Japanese pickup truck; the seat material is early Northwest Airlines."

Bah...what a load of crap...Having owned a German sedan, I find no faults with the WRX interior.

Id tend to agree with him there actually. We all know the WRX is a great bang for your buck car for us performance-minded individuals. But when it really comes down to it you're getting a $13K interior(Civic quality) for $25K.

sorry, but there's no way any car has as ****ty an interior as a Civic. The WRX isn't grand, but it's not bad...

of course, I LOVE my RS's interior...so maybe my judgement is off...but hey, I even like it more than our old 92 Caddy Seville...

all a matter of taste. Some like it plush...some don't (like me)

My dash makes more noise than a southwestern rattlesnake when I go over bumps.
Like you, my first concern isnt a plush interior. Im just saying that the Impreza has a rather low quality one.

Another vote for liking the interior, but IMO the 02 interior is quite improved over the 1st gen..

heh, I'm kinda backwards. I love the 99-01RS interior (not a fan of the 98)....as for the WRX interior...well, it kinda makes me sick...I can't stand it...but I've seen way worse...

How can you ride in a 25k american car, get in a WRX and say the WRX has a bad interior? Seriously, I guess you lose cred as moron-journalist if you can't find some fault or make some incisive social commentary

Owning a couple Germain cars and once an owner of a Nissan I can see where he is comming from.. The interior is what bothered me most as well..

There are plenty of faults with it. Even more so for me, being 6'4 I had a hard time fitting properly in that car. I told the sales guy that I was not some short japanese fellow. He laughed, but still thats my biggest issue with the WRX, its interior.

kirath, at 6'4" you have trouble? I'm 6'6", and the car has more than enough room.

of course, I've also managed to make myself comfortable in a 2nd Gen RX-7 for 3 years, too

I'm sorry Nate, but your looks like it's been to hell and back. If it didn't make those noises, then I'd wonder what was wrong with your car!

I wonder if this is the same journalist who said the WRX had rear drums!

Yeah, and don't forget the Midget.
As far as the interior goes, yeah. It's a little on the cheap side. Seriously, the interior on my old Echo was just as nice. Mind you, I like both of them, so I guess thats a "good" vote.

So compared to a car that costs $10k more it feels cheap? Hmmm, go figure. (Your profile says A4 2.8, so if that is not the car you are comparing it to I apologize)

Yes its an Audi...

Technically its not a VW.. Educate yourself... Technically Porsche is VW too right...

They share some common parts, but thats about it... I don't want to get into a debate about VW vs Audi. I was only commenting on the article about the WRX interior.. If its thats offensive to you I want comment any more.

Lots of car companies have the same parent company, does not mean the cars are the same or of the same quality. The argument is mute and un-called for actually. Sorry to see something like that come from a mod... But ohh well..

But even then, Subaru's qualtiy compared to VW, there isnt one... lets end it there

Yes my car costs more, I also got what I paid for. Before I bought my AUdi, I test drove a number of cars. I even drove Fishguys car around a number of times, very impressed with it. WRX was also on my list. And after my first test drive and seeing the interior it was easily eliminated from my list. Its all personal preference.

But back to the argument at hand, I don't like the interior of the WRX, and from the article I have to agree. I was just comparing it to my car which is better...... :monkey:

dude, don't get all uptight, I was merely joking around for the sake of a few laughs.

yeah, I'm a mod...no, I'm not often serious about things I say

I'd still like to see an A4 beat a 2.5Rs or WRX on the auto-x

So it's all equal. Our interiors are junk compared to an audi, but Subaru put the $$ into making them handle better.

Hehehehe (Joking)

Different strokes for differnet folks.

Well, then, why are you hanging out with obvious peasants who don't drive such an obviously perfect car?

You are the kind of person who perpetuates stereotypes of certain car owners...

And in Turn you are doing the same thing, perpetuating stereo types of certain car owners.. I never said anything about a perfect car, and I happen to like quite a few people on this board. I like subarus. Peace be with you my zealot friend. Im not going to argue this anymore....

Even the interior of a base model Golf puts the Impreza interior to shame.

My car has made horrible dash noises since about 3 months after I owned it. As has my friends RS.
