Subaru Banner What did you get as a loaner car from the dealer?

Curious if this has ever been discussed.

I know we all wish our Subys would never break.

But when they are in for service.

The dealer gives you a nice whip. Or a crappy one.

What dealer has the best Loaner car?

I always got a Buick.

Default I did OK only one time...

First time got an Elantra. Second time got a NEW FORESTER. Nice. Then I got a new 6 cyl. Sonata. Pretty nice, overpowered but nice.

I have never been given a loaner. I have had my car serviced at the dealer for everything until now. My car was down for 7 weeks getting a short block and no loaner. The dealer here in Vegas sucks big penor.

We have 28 loaners between our Subaru and Volvo stores. They are all Outback 2.5i Limiteds, Outback 2.5i Limited L.L.Beans, or Legacy Limited sedans with one 5-passenger Tribeca Limited. We seem to be bucking the trend here...

Rentals are supplied by the specific dealership group. You could wind up with anything depending on what kind of rentals (or loaners, if they even have a loaner policy, most service departments dont have loaners) will be available.

SOA can supply Subaru vehicles to a dealer if that dealer decides to enter that SOA program, otherwise ya, can be anything...

My dealer has 3 Subarus (two outbacks and a forester), a few Hyundais, and a full fledged Toyota rental service that has dozens of cars. Its tough to get one of the Subarus unless you specifically request it way in advance, but usually those 3 Subarus are always out (usually setup for warranty or long term Subaru work and use the Toyotas for short term use).

I have a NA automatic forester right now. It's okay, nothing like driving my WRX though. I've been getting pretty bad gas mileage too. Oh well, at least I got a loaner.

I had an 07 Outback. Just turned it in Friday. I actually had the rental to drive excatly the same amount of time I had my STI to drive. I have to get used to my car all over again, oh, and do the damn break-in period again also...

When my L needed work:
97 Chevy Cavalier - "would you like insurance?" "Yes, because I'm going to beat the hell out of that thing".

When my Forester rejected it's transmission:
Day 1-3: 2005 Outback Wagon H6
Days 3-forever: 2005 Baja N/A (fun on and off road)

When my Forester was hit and needed bodywork:
2004 Volvo S40 (from Enterprise)

When my TS got hit:
Day 1 - 2007 Legacy Sedan (awesome car)
The remainder since Progressive wouldn't cover the Subaru rental
2006 Chevy Malibu (started stalling after 15K)
traded that for a 2006 Pontiac G6 (pretty fun actually)

I've gotten a Forester, and a Tribeca. The Forester was easier on gas but the Tribeca had a nice interior.

Hehe, yeah, I know at my dealership all of our loaners are Outbacks or Legacies.. sometimes limited sometimes not... although I think we did just buy a bunch of 08 imprezas for loaners since we want to maybe sell some future imprezas and they'll make nice used cars too for us to sell

Subaru helps out the dealership for purchasing service loaners a little bit - but that benefit from Subaru is not valid for STIs, so it's unlikely you'll see a loaner STI

I have had the same 07 Forester even when I get my oil changed. My dealer also provides free rides if you work in the area which I don't thus the need for the loaner. The rule is you need to call 24 hours ahead and I've never had an issue. It's not my STi but sure beats walking 28 miles to work

Back when my 04 had some electrical problems. Subaru of exeter had it for a week and half. They gave me a 05 outback wagon for 2 days. Then called enterprise and let me pickout what ever car a I wanted. I picked a 05 f-150 crew cab 4x4 with 400 miles on it.

I had some fun with that truck
