Happy Labour Day!

I thought this was a bogus holiday, but after doing more research (while at work), I came across this...

The origins of Labour in Canada can be traced back to a printer's revolt in 1872 in Toronto, where labourers tried to establish a 54-hour work week. At that time, any union activity was considered illegal and the organizers were jailed, at the behest of George Brown. Protest marches of over 10,000 workers were formed in response, which eventually led to Prime Minister Sir John A. Macdonald repealing the anti-union laws and arranging the release of the organizers as well.

So w00tw00t for labour day and no longer can I complain about 40 hour weeks.

Come work in construction, 50+ hour work weeks and that is if you only work Monday to Friday.

I would love if I could work 54 hours, my boss wouldn't complain about paying overtime then.

Try working in the kitchen....55 hr weeks are the norm... that is if you're working 5 days a week..

I work 48 hours a week, in 4 days...but then I get 5 days off

so ur not getting 40 hours a week?.. i usually work 3 days a week 12 hours a shift but sometimes more.. which equates to 36 hours a week.. its fine with me since u get alot more time off

I'm with semaj, I work 42 hours in 4 days then get 4 days off

I worked 38 hours straight once, that sucked but the $$$ didn't.
