Default Logging '07 STI with Enginuity and a VAGCOM cable

I recently purchased an '07 STI, and outside the standard lowspeed bucking and occasional "hesitation" (knock event?) issues everyone else is experiencing, it pulled like mad. Sometime around the time of my last fillup, it is now feeling very slow, mostly in >3rd gear on boost. I suspect bad fuel.

Coming from the Veedub world, I own a VAG-COM. This would sometimes occur in my VWs, and I'd log and find out massive amounts of timing were being pulled due to poor gasoline. My VWs were fairly picky about fuel--I assume some of the stations around me have ethanol in them, or perhaps poor mixing or additive packages.

I assume my STI doesn't like the fuel I put in last time, and I'd like to datalog it. I see the nice little app Enginuity that I could use. My question: can I use Enginuity with my VAG-COM HEX-USB +CAN cable (linked above)? Or do I need the oft-mentioned tactrix cable?

I have used my VAG-COM cable and software on other OBDII cars to pull/reset codes. I assume it will work, but I thought a quick query of the experts might be wise. TIA

I have been able to log using a vag-com cable and enginuity, however you can not use it with ecuflash to reflash, at least I havnt been able to.

Just what I needed to know, thanks!

Assuming I find my ECU pulling timing, and perhaps have a low IAM, how long will this take to go back to normal after finding fuel it likes?

I reflashed my 04 sti with a vag-com cable if that means anything. Actually, I've used it on a few other DBW suby's as well, 04's and 05's. The vag-com will not work on DBC subarus.

What is the car you are trying to flash? If it is a wrx with a cable throttle then the cable will not work. I have only been able to flash cars with drive by wire with the vag-com cable.

What does it do when you try to flash? does it give you errors? or does it just do nothing?

im trying to flash a 2006wrx. it does nothing, wont let me read, write, or test write to ecu. I get an error every time i open up ecuflash... "error loading FTD2XX.DLL" which i believe i read somewhere has to do with the driver for the tactrix cable.

Yep, vag-com and wrx's does not work. It will work on any drive by wire subaru but not drive by cable.

The vag-com was designed to work on drive by wire cars, audi/vw. For whatever reason it doesn't have the right stuff to work with cable driven cars like the wrx. Sorry, you need the right cable.

yea, the 06 wrx is dbw, i finally got the driver error to go away by copying the file and pasting in the system32 folder, but it still wont recognize my cable. tried logging with enginuity then just to make sure the cable was working and its worked with that for about 1min then lost connection so i dont know what the deal is now.

Yes I used ecuflash with the vag-com cable. It worked on 04 and 05 dbw cars, didn't try it on and 06 and it wouldn't work for cable driven throttle cars.

I have not been able to get my VAGCOM cable to work with Enginuity and my '07 STI.

I have been able to connect with the VAGCOM cable and VAGCOM software in OBDII mode, and do some basic OBDII logging. But Enginuity won't find the USB VAGCOM cable.

I will putter around with it this evening and see if I can get it to work.
