Default What are *you* willing to give up in regards to statism?

How many of you that pay income taxes, collect unemployment benefits, use public parks, etc would be willing to stop in order to signal your frustration with statism? Using public parks isn't all that much different from stealing private property, especially if you spend more than an hour a day there.

But beyond what and how you make use of government theft, what else are you willing to give up or do without in order to personally contribute towards fighting statism?

And, yes, I am asking this at least partially because some of you talk a big talk, and yet I notice you take advantage of all the benefits of socialism. Are you giving money to the CATO institute to make up for your embrace of the nanny state?

All I ask is that they stop using the police department, the fire department, public schools, the interstate highway system, the water system and the world wide web.

All of these things were developed with and continue to be subsidized by public money a.k.a. taxation.

@ Ayn Rand

Socialism (which requires real, meaningful democratic control/participation) != Statism

Are you willing to give up as much as you expect others to?

the thing about global warming is that if you're not living with 100% clean power and no car and composting everything, then you're a hypocrite and thus you validate my viewpoint that global warming is hype!

the thing about libertarianism is that if you're not living with your 12 children and your militia with a small arsenal in your basement, then you're a hypocrite and thus you validate my viewpoint that libertarianism is silly!

there's no point arguing issues because you can be wrong! the only way to go is to pick a side and do everything you can to prove that you believe in it! because politics is binary! you are either with me or against me!

funker is the new 'mike wevrick.'

You missed my point in the global warming thread I posted, which was simply that if you expect others to give up SUV's, shouldn't you give up your STi/EVO/insert name of other gas guzzling sports car/sedan? It's not about politics, it's about personal conviction.

But a mom and 2 kids in a SUV are getting better mileage per person than me in my WRX!

The g'mint should force me to sell my car and force her to give me a lift!

I wasn't aware that Mexico's government and illegal immigration were "races."

I'm also sorry to see that you believe that illegal immigration at large benefits the little guy, when in reality it benefits U.S. big business and the Mexican govt.
