alright, i got tuned about 6 months ago with stage 2 and meth injection on my 04 sti. i only made 269hp and 289tq but my car felt fast so i wasnt upset about it. i bought a new fuel pump and ebay top mount. i then scheduled a retune at Slowmotion motorsports here in columbus, ohio. so i got tuned and made 289hp and 340 tq. Slowmotion told me that my perrin electronic boost control solenoid was not able to work with the stock ECU so they put on a Hallman MBC and set the psi for 17psi.then i get a boostleak and only hit about 8-9psi. so i find the boostleak which was where the intercooler and intake manifold meet with the 4 inch hose. so i get a new one and install it. i then only hit about 12 psi then it slowly moves down to 2 psi near redline. then while hitting 12 psi in 4th gear my check engine light comes on. P0422 i believe it was, WASTEGATE SUR/TURBO/SOLENOID. Also during all of this my boost gauge only says -2psi at idle.
I have reset the ECU, i have tried to switch back to the Perrin solenoid to see if it will hit target boost and i did but only for one pull then back to the same so i switched back to the hallman MBC and turned the boost down and still the same thing. 12psi peak to 2psi taper. i have reversed the hoses to run off wastgate pressure and i do only hit 7-9 psi which i think is right. can anybody help me with this problem. please tell me if i am not detailed enough or if i am leaving anything out. help is appreciated. THANKS.

I think your boost gauge has a leak. You may actually be hitting 17+ psi to trigger P0244 and fuel cut. The car won't idle at -2 psi. It should be -7 to -8.5 or so.
You could log the ECU to see what your actual boost is. I'm very weary about your tuner saying the stock ECU cannot control the Perrin solenoid and ditching it in favor of a MBC. That's a big step backwards. |

okay, so would it hurt if i plugged back in the perrin solenoid? it should be tuned at 18 psi form my last tune.

If the person who tuned it has no confidence in the tune working correctly I don't see why anyone else should. I assume your tuner told you that because he or she couldn't get it to work right to begin with the solenoid. I don't see why you would want to plug it back in.
If you pay someone else to tune your car, you really gotta stick with their advice. If you don't like their advice, you need to find someone else. Just ignoring their advice is not a valid option. See if you can log your ECU or check your boost gauge. Something is really off if you're only hitting 12psi and that is triggering P0244. That is possible if the tuner lowered boost cut to only 12 psi, but stock it is around 17. It wouldn't make sense, and it wouldn't have been running ok before, or on the dyno. BTW, what dyno are you on? I didn't know there was an AWD in Columbus. |

im guessing your tuner didnt tune the mbc ..because once you get a protuned ,that high output boost solenoid check engline light that goes away
