Question Good North Carolina Dealerships?

Hey Folks--

I am not a soobie owner, yet ! I am holding off buying until the 2003 MY and STi announces are made. I live in the RDU area of NC, and am looking for feed back on area dealers.

Southern States in Raleigh, my experience with them was not at all positive. Came in on a busy Saturday and the Sales guy said he did not have time to give me a test drive if I were not buying that day! Jerk!

Performance in Chapel Hill however has been fairly responsive. But I dont know how they treat folks long term.

I saw good things about the dealer in Asheville but I dont want to drive that far for service .

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards,

mRgUnN

hey-

I live in Chapel Hill and am hoping to buy a WRX before summer. I have taken one for a test drive at Southern States, but I am not about to sit down and try to deal with them when they put a $500 "security system" on every car on their lot. They just don't impress me. Performance Subaru seems good, although I haven't talked with them much. Basically, when I'm ready to buy, I'm gonna buy from whoever gives me the price I want. I'll post again if I go to any other dealers...

Default stay away from Southern States

Southern States has got to be the worst dealership I have ever dealt with.
Performance seemed much nicer, sales person through sales manager were very nice, however they wouldn't negotiate much on the price (at least not for me).
I ended up buying through Bob Dunn in Greensboro, got a great deal and free delivery. I should note that I bought through my credit union, if you belong to a credit union I strongly urge you to check with them prior to purchasing.

I don't know about their any of their service departments though, I do my own basic work.

Good luck!

Prestige Subaru in Asheville is top-notch...They are the largest selling Subaru Dealer in the South East...They have a Platinum Rating for service and Parts...Sorry I am a little bias...but since I work there..These are the selling points of OUR dealership...We have had many Customers come from Durham and Charlotte area...There are many on this board that will vouch for the Care your given in choosing your vehicle...just something to reconsider your trip to Asheville...

Had I researched my stuff more I would have probably driven to Prestige. That being said I had a good expierence with Performance. They were helpful and tracked down the car I wanted fairly quickly (I was picky). As far as the long term goes, I can't comment. I maintain everything I possibly can myself.

Well, I finally quit thinking about it and ordered my blue WRX today. I ordered from Ron Cagle with Prestige Subaru in Asheville, and was thoroughly impressed. The deal was done in 20 minutes, and now I just have to agonize for 8-10 weeks til I pick it up. Anyone out there in North Carolina (or anywhere for that matter) looking for a professional dealership, look no further than Prestige Subaru.

I'll give my two cents for Prestige as well.

I bought my RS there on Halloween 2000. Drove 800 miles to pick it up.

That's how good my experience was. Jerry and Bill rock.

Also, just because a sales department sucks, doesn't necessairly mean their service department is horrible. My local dealer's sales department is terrible, but the service department is very good. Many of us Miami, FL people take our cars there for service/warranty. They're fairly mod friendly as well.

Just a thought.

I went to subura of Jacksonville, NC....

They treated me awesome.. there sales people are top notch.

But now I HATE the dealership because of the service guys. Never have I ever had so many problems with someone. They tell you one thing.. and if you call back and get the same person, might tell you something different. I have NOT had 1 single good experiance yet. I've stopped going, I'm doing all my own maintance or I'm having somesome else do it.

In my experience, Performance is WAAAY expensive and unwilling to negotiate a fair deal....unless you think sticker price is a fair deal....

I almost bought my car there, but it would have cost me a fortune.

Just thought I'd pop in here.
Been lurking a long time, first post.

I'm working on a deal with Bob dunn subaru in Greensboro right now.
So far, the Saleslady I am working with has been great.
Should finalize the deal tomarrow and I'll pop back in to let you know how it went.

bump for Prestige.

I got mine from Scott Wilbanks there, with Jerry's help. Top notch people.

Ones to stay away from...

Hunter Subaru in Hendersonville, NC
Fairway Subaru in Greenville, SC
