So i got done with my hybrid swap everything runs great! only thing is i cant seem to run any boost over .05 7lbs? So i didnt care until i got the car tuned by sense of nature near Chi town, Thanks rob, we tuned it with the tactrix and increased the amount of boost to 19 lbs, we took it for a ride and couldn;t get any boost over 7, went back checked things out thought it maybe a vacuum line took the little pill restrictor out and took for another ride, no go, got home put a different tdo4 in and tried it no go, then i put a blitz ele, boost controller, yeah i had boost but know had other problems, so check this vid out and tell me what you think.

What all was done recently to the car? It kinda looks like a problem I was having to my aftermarket EJ18 turbo setup. In that case the spark plugs I was using were NA plugs, an the turbo once it was getting to around 5psi, the pressures/turbulence in the cylinder was blowing out the spark. So I gapped it down to WRX gap and I was good.

If your tune *was* running at 19psi, and then started running at ~7psi, the first thing I would look at is the IAM. The computer will stop trying to control boost (limiting you to wastegate pressure) if it has seen a lot of knock.

The "bouncing boost" issue that started after the aftermarket boost controller was installed are likely related to that controller... bad plumbing, bad settings?

I had a similar problem with my old WRX when I installed a Greddy Profec B. I could never figure out how to use all of the settings on that thing and ran into the boost fluctuation that you seem to be experiencing. How did I remedy the problem? I took the Profec out and got the car tuned.

my car is tuned, we changed the factory wastegate duty cycle to 19lbs, but even with that said and the stock electric solenoid i can only reach 7lbs, the blitz is the only way i can get more that 7lbs. i was going to try a manual controller to see if i had fluctuation or not, but cant seem to find it.

Ignition Advance Multiplier, sometimes called Dynamic Advance Multiplier. Check it with DeltaDash or one of the free logger programs.

On your car, you want to see 16. After an ECU reset, it defaults to 8, unless you changed the default in the flash. If you're at 4 or less, then the ECU has seen lots of knock... it will disable the boost control solenoid, limiting boost to wastegate pressure (~7-8psi). I wonder if that is why you couldn't get the boost to come up before you installed the boost controller.

isn't the second line on that gauge .1 mpa?

So those video's were taken with the greddy boost controller installed? And you're curious about the fluctuations?

IMO, it's the settings in the boost controller causing that. It looks to me like you're boosting about 17psi or so....

okay just hooked up an air compressor and put a tee in where the controller and my gauge get pressure and the other hose went to the in port on the dbcsolenoid, i was changing setting while providing air and you can tell that the dbcs has a studery pulse when at work, kinda like ta ta ta ta ta not steady leakage, does this have anytime to due with the setting of the controller going on percents not lbs, anyways the ? still stand "WHY WITH THE STOCK SOLENOID CAN I ONLY GET .05BAR AND NO MORE,
History of the car,
Brand new motor,
ej257 with wiesco pistons 100mm

stock sti crank
stock sti rods
stock wrk heads with .006 intake and .012 exhaust
compression ration around 8.9 -9.1
grimm speed 3mm spacers,
tumbler valve deletes with rods and sensors in, "soon to be changed to stripped"
turboxs Port and polish intercooler
afe short ram intake with lid and heat sheild
Uppipe and Turboback
and stock 04 wrx ecu with custom tune by sense of nature with the tactrix cable,

Problem i see is even before i got the tune i could hit .1bar with no controller just stock equipment, but could notice it not always getting there,

Do you guys think that something could have happened before and then when i got the tune it just finished it off. Im clueless now its been 2 weeks of thinking and no result,
Only other thing i can think is that after the tune got to .1bar for 2 secs in 6 gear deep on the freeway, went back to the house and decided to take out the pill restrictor and from that point have never got to stock boost, only steady .05bar WHY!!!!!!!!!!

check to make sure you have power and ground to the solenoid. Also make sure it is plumbed right with the hoses.

Dont get me wrong the controller does work it just doesnt work to my satisfaction, like the video shows it gets to what ever boost i want 1-20+lbs its just that when it gets there it starts to boob, i should think that a good controller would have a nice smooth valve, not a sputery popping effect like im getting right now, But the question at hand is why doesnt the stock solenoid go to 19lbs like we had it set with the tactrix. only gets to .05 like the solenoid is always closed, giving the car only wastegate pressure and always opening it at .05bar. GAY!!

With my AVC-R the boost will fluctuate if the solenoid duty is set to high.

did you try putting the restrictor pill back in the vacume line? It should even out the preasure being sensed by your boost controler. I think so anyway. It's been a while since I had my solenoid, turbo ect apart. If your boost controler is made to work with the restrictor then I would use it.
