Default Intermittent starting issues

I have a '96 Legacy 2.2 and it is starting to give intermittent starting problems. They are starting to increase in frequency though. The car will just crank. No start. I pulled a plug wire off the central coil pack and there was no spark. If you crank for a LONG time, it has always eventually started. No hiccuping or anything like that. When it eventually does start, it runs fine. Now, does that mean a coil pack or some other electronic issue? Has anyone experienced a similar problem? Also, I have a '95 Legacy 2.2 and that car has done it once also. Can anyone shed any light onto this?
Thanks,
Jamie

Sounds like the crank angle sensor. I had the same problem on my old 1995 1.8L Impreza sedan. This was a few years ago and the car had less than 30k miles, but I've heard of it being a problem on numerous Impreza and Legacy models from 1994-1997. I bought the car second hand, but I had the exact same symptoms. I think the part retails for about $70.

Hope this helps.
