Default Final update on STi swap

This is probably going to be my final update on the STi swap I was doing. I know I've changed my mind a few times in the past but I've decided that I don't need 300hp. Since my 2.5l engine is blown I found a 1.8l and will be putting it in. I'm sure I can enjoy that just as much... I put the engine up in the pennysaver and sold it for $5000.

Haha. For everyone who read that and fell off their chairs. I'm of course joking. Rejean is going to finish the swap. It's just getting too cold outside for me to work on the car and since my company has just landed some large contracts I won't have a lot of time to work on it.

It was also getting harder and harder to dig up the motivation to go outside and twiddle with the car since I was still waiting on engine parts from Japan. I also want to drive the car, not tune it for 2 months with the Tec.

So as of this evening the car is at Lachute and is getting the stock ECU. If the Tec-III looks really good I may go with it, otherwise I'll install a GEMS system since it's designed for the engine and there are many people already running it.

Unless there are major problems and we end up behind I'll have the car at the next Subaru meeting.

Are you interested in getting rid of your blown EJ-25. The reason I am asking is that I know a local engine builder who needs half a block to create a template for flowing subaru heads. This would be a great benefit to all of us, having someone in canada who can do head work for us.

EJ25. So far the cams are sold, ECU and engine harness is sold. Flywheel may be sold. If you want the block you'll have to buy both halves. FYI there is already a shop in Canada that does their own head work, cams and intake extrusions too. Lachute carries them.

The heads are also for sale and everything else. I believe the intake will be extrude honed before I sell it.

GEMS is a replacement ECU. They come pre-built for the exact STi version or WRX version you run. It has everything from ALS to launch control. It doesn't have the fancy ignition of the Tec-II but there is a lot of tuning expertise out there on it.

That's cool d00f,

There is a shop in Brockville, Ont, (Hewitt Auto) that has a mega flow bench set up. They are well known for procuding top of the line heads. I was talking to him about what would be needed to flow subaru heads, he said that 1/2 a block that he could attach the 4" air hose to the cylinder, to do it properly.

I thought that Lachute was selling Cobb stuff? Any idea who these other guys are?

Did you get the car back yet? I am really interested to see what your reaction is to it! (I'm trying the EJ25 turbo option).

I'm not sure there is any value in having the heads flowed. Cobb already did this and Lachute sells their own ported heads as well as Cobbs. You'd just be reinventing the wheel here errr reinventing the head.

If you do the turbo EJ25 you will need the forged pistons cobb sells as well as some engine management.
