R.I.P Colin! :(

Default Stage 2 1/4 mile time. Is this right?

I'm posting this here as it seams the best place.

Ok so last night I got to run my car in the 1/4.

I ran a 14.024 @ 97mph with no weight reduction.
And had a 1.956 60' time.

Heres the vid.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dByu-2LcgBM

Now I was not beating on the car.
I launched at no more then 3K feathering the clutch and did not flat foot (power) shift the car.

Car has 4,300 miles on it and about 300 miles sins the stage 2 reflash was done.

After they stopped timing I got to run a 02 WRX that got there late.

I did not get it on vid as my battery gave up by then.

I beat him by like 4 cars the first race but he claimed to have missed 3rd badly so we ran agen.
I only beat him by a car and a half the second time but I messed up my launch that run.

His car was stock and had about 60K on it.

So what do you guys think?
I still think its to slow.
VF39 on the way!

Later.

I think that's the worst time I've seen for a stage 2 07 WRX. I ran a 14.0xx in my 02 WRX with just an uppipe in July

What was your trap speed?

A perfect run on a well tuned stage 2 car could hit 12.9.

orly?

OP: lots of room for improvement in your 60ft and it wouldn't hurt to shift a bit quicker

Its hard to gauge 1/4 times as driver skill and trtack prep have a huge impact

I think the Vf39 is a great idea as the stock 06 - 07 WRX turbo is a joke

On 07 WRX's the ecu is very tricky seeing a pro tuner in your area will be of great help

You could probably run a 13.5 at best with a 97mph trap speed. You need to get your 60' time down to 1.7-1.8. You wont get a good time unless you get your 60' time down.

I'd say practice your driving and get a protune.

^1320 is a 1/4 mile.

My trap speed was 97mph.

As I said I was not hard on the car.

Just wanted to know if that was about the right time for how I was driving the car.

Track prep there on test and tune nights is the suck! Has been every time Iv been there.

And this was the first time on the track with the car and I only made 4 timed passes.
I got faster with every run.

1st run.
R/T .219
60' 2.131
1/8 9.331
1/4 14.412
MPH 96.79

2nd run.
R/T .113
60' 2.060
1/8 9.220
1/4 14.271
MPH 98.96

3rd run.
R/T .243
60' 2.005
1/8 9.148
1/4 14.187
MPH 96.18

4th run
R/T .426
60' 1.958
1/8 8.985
1/4 14.024
MPH 97.26

I got faster with every run. With more time I know I could have gotten in the 13s.

Also it was 84* with about 60% humidity. Sunny and clear.

Later.

Just need a good launch and quick shifts, you should be in mid 13's, with a stg2 07
I'd get your times down before you mod for power. So later when you are modding you will know if the difference is you or the mods.

I wouldn't be dragging with that transmission.

I wouldn't shift at redline, ask your tuner, and he can help you out.

I never said that there was anything wrong with the transmission.. just a lot of people have broken theirs. I was just giving him a headsup. I haven't had a problem with any WRX transmission myself.

Chill out.

fwiw i ran 13.5 @ 100 barely tuned in a 2.0l 05 wrx at 15 psi. you should be running faster.

oh and after about 100 auto-x runs, 7 drag runs and lots of rallying, my "glass" tranny is fine

I ran 13.90 @ 96.9 with just an uppipe and tune. I dropped to 13.4x @ 100-101 with a turboback and retuned. This is on an '02 running 15.5psi. But I've got over 200 runs in my car, so my 60' is consistently in the low 1.8's, which helps alot. Also, I'm still on the stock "glass transmission" that came in the '02. Put the car on a dyno so you can see the power curve and you'll see where you should be shifting (it probably won't be redline) for the best acceleration.

Well i had tried to post up some useful information on this topic a bit ago but internet connection in krgystan suck dick so that all got ereased.

but pretty much waht i was going to say is i have an 07 wrx and w/ just a CAI and my tune it ran a 13.32 at some mph which i cant remember

and then w/ the addition of an STi TBE and a retune it ran a 12.95 @ 103 ( i wouldnt conisder this anything over stage 1 but most ppl will argue that otherwise)....also i think it helped that my fastest confirmed 60' was a 1.72 (i'm sure on the 12 sec run based on the timeslip that it was lower than that possibly a high to mid 1.6 given all the info on the slip.), but that i will never kno. i would love to be able to confirm it as on stock RE92's and full stock suspension a 1.6 let alone running a 1.72 is down right amazing.

as far as tuning these ECU's they arent that hard compared to other types, especially the wrx ecu's when you compare them to the newer sti ecu's far more built into those.

on darkscooby's topic of glass tranny's i've convered this b4 in other topics, if you kno how to drive and launch your car at power levels at and above this you will not have anything to worry bout.

the one thing he is right about is not shifting at redline when i ran my 12 i shifted at 6500rpm.

I blame Appalachian State... they must've broken Michigan race-tracks too.

just kidding folks, simmer down.

60' looks like it could use improvement. You said yourself you're not launching hard or shifting with 'vigor'. All that little stuff eats up tenths, it really does.
The launch, obviously, is key... you see all the quicker guys don't 'drop' the clutch, they do a quick slip. Watch some youtube vids of guys that get quick 60's... you can pick up the 'feel' by listening... they don't bog, they just 'go!'.

It definitely has room for improvement. In my 2.0 at stage 2, I consistently run mid 13s @ 101, last time out I ran 13.3 @ 103.07, with a 1.8 60ft (I could use some practice there too). The 60ft is what's killin you, and some quicker shift action FTW!

Practice more.. You are comming down each run. Be smooth. Not hard on the car. Get out of first gear right away.. This car should go down to mid 13's. Probably happen in 2 weeks of practice at your learing rate.
