Default In a race how do I start?

This may seem like a really stupid question to many; I have a 02' WRX that has a turbo-back aps exhaust system, aps cold air intake, and aps blow off valve, and its a manual; and I don't know how to start in a race. When I'm in first gear and my foot is on the clutch, I try to maintain the RPM at a continues 2 or 3 and when I start the race or start whatever, I press on the accelerator whilst quickly letting go off the clutch. However, when I do that, it gives the car a kick but then the car jerks before it speeds up! I don't know what to do, do you guys have any tips?

hold down the clutch at the line. While doing so hold the revs at 4500--->5000 rpm, no lower then 4000 though or else ur car will most likely buck (lag) and take a split second to get air. When the light is about to turn green floor it and drop the clutch. U will see why subarus are so fast off the line. Oh, and don't forget to shift to second, it comes up real fast!

Vin says...

"Have your car"

P.S. Search for "launch" and you'll find your answers...

first you rev the motor a bunch and blow off to intimidate the other driver.

then you say something to the effect of "nice car... how much did it cost?"

then you hold the pedal to the floor until the light turns green and then take your foot off the clutch.

Last weekend I was autoxing and always came up to the line behind an R32. He spun all 4 off the line every time, even with R tires, and launched like a rocket. I was envious. Either they have much better trannies or he has a much bigger car repair budget

first of all stop racing till you know how to drive youre car,
because it sounds like your still unexperienced.
first learn every litle thing possible about how the car drives, handles
and the sounds it makes at low speeds, then you can start racing.
If you continue like this you will blow your tranny or fry your clutch.

fyi : a r32 and a stock wrx are a big difference, he's got more power
and torque, plus a better tranny.
thats like comparing a m3 to a regular 330 and wondering why
the m3 runs faster lap times.

Listen to this man.

Ignore Richy, consider your transmission bombproof.

Agreed, but since the SCCA put both cars in D-Stock, I have to deal with it

agreeing with richie. i hear that that an launching your subie without uping the diffs can be bad news. Heard a story about one guy who raced and evo w. his WRX. Launched his car at about 5k rpms and then ripped out his mid and rear diffs...8k+ to fix or something of that nature. i would advise to up your diffs then you can launch all day if you wanted to.

Unpossible. If anything, upgrading your diffs would make any 'glass tranny' syndrome worse.

^ Ummm do you read much? 02-03 are weak trannys compared to 04s+. I wouldn't advice this abuse unless you have money to buy another tranny or upgrade your gears. Basically its the phrase pay to play.

Also you mean impossible.

Did you read what I said?

How many people have you heard of that broke their diffs (and both at the same time, lol)? Way more people break gears.

Upgrading your diffs for more traction off the line would just make your gears that much more prone to breakage, get me?
