Question 0-30, 0-60, 1/4 mi, 50-70, skidpad, 60-0... blah blah blah...

I know. I know. They're just numbers. Inevitably, some of you are going to post in this thread saying that, adding something about the importance of driving dynamics, etc. (and I won't disagree with those statements), but like it or not, people look at those numbers.

So, accepting that fact, which of the normally available metrics would you say are most indicative of how a car will perform in real everyday situations?

50-70, so you can GTFO of the way on the high way, and 60-0, so you also don't die.

edit, yes, as scuzzy said, skidpad.

the point is not driving 100mph on a daily basis, it's about how much powaaa ya got...cars like the wrx are gasping for air up in the up there. most cars will hit 60 no problem, it's the upper end that most cars have trouble with

OK. I see what you're saying, but for me, around-town performance is more important, so 0-30 is more important for me.

I believe that rolling starts (5-60) are a better indication of every day, around the town driving than 0-30 or 0-60. 0-30 is ALL launch and 0-60 is a good bit dependant on the launch. So unless you are revving to 5000rpm and dropping the clutch at every opportunity, 0-anything is not a great indication of "real everyday situations".

I don't know about that. When I start from a green light, I am usually starting from a dead stop, not 5 mph.

I think that an ideal measurement would be how fast a car can go from 0-30 or 0-60 without wheelspin or screeching.
