I have 8500 miles on my car and the Cel light has come on twice the first time around they said "Oh if it comes on again just let us know", well sure enough yesterday morning it came on and there answer to the problem is, "well we call SOA and they just said use 97+ oct from now and and that should do the trick"... the code both times is cylinder one misfire... why do I feel like Im getting pushed over... not really happy right now I havent done anything to this car for mods either. anyone else have this said to them? Do they have a valid solution? It just seems like they dont want to deal with me.

take it to a different dealer and call SOA yourself.

Okay, this is really bad news. Um, 07 sti's have been popping pistons left and right. The stock tune is terrible! It runs the car very lean under boost and knocks like crazy until you just melt a piston. Take the car back and make them do a compression test. You should not have to run 97 octane in a street car. That is just insane! Read more of the problems in the 2.5l forums. Lots of good info in the thread '07 STI down in compression.

Mine is jerky while cold too. I think that is normal. That "knock" could have done some damage which could cause a misfire. You could be okay but I would make sure you have the dealership do a compression test just to be safe. If there is damage then at least you know and you will get a new shortblock from SOA.

I've had my '05 for about 1.5 months and am the second owner. I've had the check engine light come on twice in the past 3 weeks. The first time I was told the gas statement and they also had mentioned it came up as a cylinder one misfire. Nothing else was done.

A few days ago it came on again and I took it in this morning for diagnostics. They said that it was the same code coming up and was related to the fuel injector. They said that they would change it for me and I can pick the car up this afternoon. It sounds like you are having the same or a similar problem.

I'd find a new dealership. Well for starters I'd get the dealer telling you to run 97 octane in writing.

Then I'd get a new dealership to do the work. I'd contact Subaru of America and open a case. Tell them that the dealer told you to run 97 octane to fix your issue.

Oddly enough the tech behind the counter said he just did an injector on an 07 STi about a month earlier with the same code, and 302 yeah I got it in my invoice that the fix is to run 97 octane I dont even know where I can find anything that high around where I lived and when i asked them there resonse was " yeah I dont know who sells gas that high" bah...
