HIHO,
Are you Morrete's actual HID's?? From my understanding those systems run on extremely high voltage and require new wiring to acommodate it along with conversion boxes to boost from a 12V system. I really like the look of the Morretes on your GT and are would consider them for my ride, but am affraid of the consequences if they do not perform like the manufactures claim they do.

No they are not HIDs. I have no need for HIDs. These morrets a BRITE. I am highly impressed with their output. I have been in cars with HIDs(friends A4) and my lights are as brite as his. The color is different but the light output is equal(IMO and his). He could not believe they put out that good. I just added the Hella FF100 driving lights. They have made an even bigger difference. I am going to post pics tonight of the new output. I didn't take any with the stock lights so I can't compare. I am sure you will be able to see the difference is great. The Morrets come with upgraded wiring. The factory wires just run into a relay so you don't have to worry about extra draw on the tiny stock wiring.

I see! Sounds like a great set up combined with the Hella's you just added. Out of curiosity, how much did the entire set up run you?

Around $550. A little more than a GOOD HID kit. If you want to upgrade you lighting the best thing to do is get some E-code lights first.

I know you bought yours as a kit, but is there any way to buy just the lamps, custom make a harness or facia to hold the lamps.
There is nothing out there for the first gen legacies. I know someone that was goin to fab something up, but if we can order just the lamps, he can then just design harness/facia for the lights, so then you just have to take out the stock headlamp and connect up the custom one. Thanks Josh |

To tell you the truth I am not sure. I do know I have Hella optics not Cibie. But I also know that Cibie is very high quality. Email the guy in charge of the site and get some info from him. I just don't know where the best place would be to start. It would be tough to fab a headlight housing from scratch.

What exactly do you have to do to get the clear corners? Are the 98 lights the same as the 97's? Thanks! Chris. |

I think the 98's are two piece while ours are one. I have my stock lights sitting in my garage. I will look and see if it is possible to do the clear with them.

It is in bad shape. Both the attachment areas on top are broke. You might be able to fix it with some glue? I can take pics of the damage and you can see what you think. I will give you the passenger side if you will pay shipping.

How much? I might give it a try. Shipping should be cheaper than buying a new one like I did for the drivers side. /Mark Conrad Last edited by sovereignmk1; 01-19-2002 at 02:56 AM. |

I will look into the clear corners tonight. As for the free headlight lens, it isn't even worth shipping. You wouldn't want to put it on your car.

I am a newbie here and I'd like to upgrade my lights to morettes. I have two questions for those that have upgraded their lighting:
1. What bulbs do the morette lights use for low/ high beam? 2. Do the low beams stay on with the high beams? Thanks for your help. DeeBee |

DeeBee,
1. Morette Low beam is H1 and High beam is H3 2. Yes, the Low beams stay on with the High beams. This is great because the Hight beams have a very sharp, long pencil beam pattern. They are literally blinding. My GT with Morettes and HID low beams: ![]() ![]() Jacob jacobjhorn@hotmail.com |

i believe they are h1 lows, h3 highs, and 1156 turn signals.
yes, the low beams stay on with the highs and there are also city lights built into the high beam housings. |

Thank you froggert and jacobhorn!
I have an HID kit in my VW Golf and the light output is phenomenal! I'm looking to buy a set for my '95 and add an HID kit. Ido plenty of night driving and the stock lights don't cut it. I currently have a Philips HID kit in the stock headlights and the light output could be better. Too bad I'll have to sell it to purchase an H1 HID kit. The morettes look like a one piece unit from the pictures. If so, I think it would be a direct replacement for the one piece '95 legacy headlight. I certainly hope so. DeeBee |
