Default Extended Warranty Company

I am in the process of getting a few things fixed on my subaru. On thing is the speed sensor in the tranny, the other is a sensor in the dash. They say because my car has 76,000K on it that the tranny sensor will be on warranty but the dash one won't. I told them that I bought extended warranty to cover all of it and they need proof. They said they do not have it on file and it is an external company that handles it. I thought it was subaru C.A.R.E., but it appears they are only roadside assistance. Do any of you know what company it is in Canada that sells the extended warranty?

There are many different extended warranty companies out there. Subaru Added Security is the only one offered by the factory, but dealerships often sell third-party warranties that are administered by different companies and coverage can vary widely. You need to find the paperwork from when you bought your car and determine which company's warranty you purchased, check their coverage, and give that info to the service department at your dealership. If you still have an issue of something not being covered that should be (again, check your contract) then contact the warranty company directly.

They are right. There are so many outside party's that haveextended service agreements that we have no idea what one you have and what policy. So yes they would need the paperwork so they can contact the company and see if the repair is covered.

Half the extended warranty's out there really aren't worth a darn. I just dealt with one where there isn't an actual person to call regarding the repair. Just submit the concern via internet and they will fax you back if it is covered or not. That was 2 days downtime that the vehicle sat. I have never had a company that never had a person you couldn't talk to. It was funny because the customer mentioned, well when they sold it to me, there was a person we spoke with.

3rd party extended warranties are useless. They list exactly which parts are covered and which are not and do exhaustive studies to make sure that the parts that fail the most are not covered...

Chances are you are screwed, especially not having your original paperwork.

Back to helping the OP
I'd try contacting the dealership where you bought the car, as they ought to have a copy of the paperwork somewhere, given that it's only been 3 years or so since you bought it.
If they don't have your info, they can at least tell you the name/contact info for the current non-Subaru extended warranty they are selling, which will hopefully be the same as the one you bought.
