Talking Enjoying the Snow?

I've been stuck in the office all morning, but it looks like it must be pretty sweet out there right now (I'm in Westchester).

So how is the driving? I'm sure a few of you guys must have been livin it up this morning.

I think I'm gonna have to get out of here early cause of the snow like everyone else so that I can get home (after finding some new backroads to keep the commute interesting )

But it seems no one is replying to this post 'cause they're prolly all out there playing away. Forget sledding... let's go 4 wheel drift! Whoo hoo! LOL!

Hey folks...

Too bad I don't drive a Scooby... this morning's commute would have at least been a little more reassuring. Phew...

This morning the snow was coming down HARD. The orange Turnpike service trucks were out doing their job and plowing. I was driving my Taurus wagon in the snow. I'm thankful that I at least have Goodyear Weatherhandlers on my car, otherwise I would have probably been in DEEP trouble today. There were parts on the 'pike where the snow was nasty. It caught me off guard big time... I decided not to argue with my FWD car and took my foot off the gas... let the snow coast my car down some and regained my senses.

It was slushy snow this morning, a friend of mine tells me it is sticking to the ground now.

Well, to all the Subaru owners out there, have fun in the snow, and please, be careful... AWD can only help you for so long.

God bless you,
Ramon

Very envious of you guys who are getting all of this wounderful snow. Not much has accumulated out here on LI and none of it is sticking to the roads. Oh well, I just hope it gets a little bit colder so that I can have some fun also.

This is BAD snow bad bad bad, it makes people crash. This snow sucks, On my way home from work a stupid azz person was driving down hill in front of me and decided to slam on their brakes as hard as they could, They started toi slide then the ass of the car came out they were slicding sideways all 4 wheels locked up across two lanes on Bloomfield ave, the nose of their car came about 1 inch from getting ripped off by about 5 parked cars. Did I mention this happened right in front of me They are lucky that I didnt t-bone them. they wisly stopped backed up got going strait again and pulled over.

Then oh man after that I saw a guy in a late model mustang who thought if he gave his car all the gas he could it would be able to make it up the same hill, hence he went slideways all the way up, again almost wiping out parked cars in the proscess. Good thing I was going in the other direction.

All in all BE AFRAID, BE VERY AFRAIDIm scared I parked my car and am staying inside, this snow is to wet and slippery, I know the scoob can handle it, its just all the other a-holes who shouldnt be on the road. Ahhhh the rant continues if forgot to add the tailgatin suvs with bald tires who think they are God. ok im done

Have Fun Be Safe.

I just spent 2+ hours taking my wife home from work. I abandoned my M3 in my parking garage at work and took the EL to west philly to meet my wife. She had the forester. We took roads that had more than 1 foot on them. I stopped to help a Nissan Pathfinder get unstuck. I also helped several people in cars. The forester made it all the way to my drive way. I got it stuck infront of my back door. There was probally like 14-16 inches of heavy heavy crap with ice under it. I can't wait for my WRX, although it might not have made i.t/

Mmm...SNOW! I watched some poor lady have trouble getting out of a parking lot with a Z3 ...There was a guy there who was helping her, though. There were quite a few accidents. Fun driving, though

Ok so I lied, I went out anyway, I waited till around 7pm, I thoughtnoone would be on the roads, but eeeeeeee wrong, every were I want a NJ Transit bus was stuck, and people were driving like morons. So I picked up my friend with his video cammera and met another friend who has a 4inch lifted suburban, also had a vid camera and off we went. We were having fun for awhile until I saw a cop pass by the parking lot we were playing in. Well we got the hell out of Dodge so to speak, but in the haste to get away my friend wrapped his suburban around a telephone pole. I got it on video, it really sucked, he was able to drive away, just body damage, but where it hit you can pretty much say its totaled, cause its an oler model, I feel bad for him.

So guys be safe.
Stay home.

Thumbs down

The timeing of this storm realy sucked! My 25 minute drive home from work took 3 hrs. It was no fun at all. No problem for the Subie but I saw so many people doing stupid things. One lady stopped her car in the right hand lane to brush off her entire car. I thought you were supposed to do that before you started to drive. At least she should of pulled off the road. I hope the morning commute is better.

No snow here. The only thing that sucks about snow is my dumb @$$ neighbor gets his van stuck every morning in my drive way. The dude doesn't know how to drive plus his van sucks @$$. The guy just lays on the gas while the wheels just spin. If the guy tried to rock it or just give it a little gas he'd get the hell out of the drive way. To add to the thrill the moron goes to work every morning at 7AM. Maybe some sugar in his gas tank, land mine, or spike strip in my driveway will solve the problem... oh yeah we were talking about snow. At least my diff is still cool after getting my car impounded and towed on 2 wheels. I guess thats somthing to look forward to.

I was just playin' around with 2 Grand Cherokees. They were sure suprized how a little car can go through a little over a foot of snow with ease. In the process I found the RS's weakness. I went into a 3 foot wall of snow and got stuck. It only took 15 seconds to get out. Man this stuff it DEEP Nice practice on power slides.

Thumbs up

I am SO glad work let out early (2PM) today. so of course I took it out and looked for some fresh powder trails, er roads.
its like having a superpowerful RWD car in slow motion. lay on the gas a bit too much and the back end starts coming around. modulate the gas a bit, correct by counter steering and have a great time.

Unhappy

Sadly the other idiots out there (and the RE92s) take away from what could be a lot of fun. Still had some fun anyways...

I must say that without my 210 SnowSports I couldn't do half the crap. If every winter would be like this having Winter Performance tires is a must.

I wish I would meet one RS while I'm playing around. its gets lonly on this white road...

Hmm... the roads here were fun. Sucked though. It normally takes me about fifteen minutes to get home from work. Today, it took me over 3 hours. Hrm. But it was cool though. I dragged some dude's car up a pretty steep hill with my baby. Plus... I pulled a D-SUV out of a ditch. Oh yeah to the all mighty Blu! Climbed over a nice 3 foot drift. Whoo hoo. 4 wheel drifted around some turns. Did a nice 4 step U turn. Step one... step on gas to get speed. Step two turn wheel. Step three pull E. And step four... mash gas and you're off! LOL!

Talking

the snow is SOO WONDERFUL! talk about a winter wonderland. i just feel sorry for the pickup i seen stuck on the side of the road and the pickup that was going up the hill sideways. i just honked and waved as i swept by. I also helped out a lady with her Hyundai Accent with full one wheel drive car. yea, only one front wheel spins on those cars when they are stuck, but i got her out.

I had to go rescue my mom at her work. I got out of work around 1:30pm and got to her oh right around 7pm. This is a drive that would have taken 30min. I got home by 8:15. I can't tell you how frustrating it was to see so many cars stuck infront of me. My car went up some serious inclines and through unplowed streets like nothing. I LOVE this damn car. I saw 3 Jeep Grand Cherokies(sp?) two mercedes, three 3 series BMWs and countless other dime a dozen vehicles and who were the only ones smiling. All the other subie owners and a few large 4x4 trucks.
Seven and a half hours on the road and I kept my sanity. At least I know it wasn't my Subie's fault
