Default purchase fully assembled heads at the dealer?

in a couple of months when I start buying parts for the motor and im still kinda fuzzy on where to get heads. im planning on a built bottom end with stock heads (ej2.57) for starters and as money allows get headwork done down the road.

I would like to start with brand new heads and im guessing I can get them assembled from the dealer? if that's not the best option where else could I go?

Imma bet the heads are bare castings. You will have to buy cams, springs, valves, retainers, buckets....the works to complete the heads.

buy a used set on the internet. Or call some of the engine builders/race shops to see if they have any.

The dealer only offers bare castings, which you can build up with factory, or aftermarket components.

What do you mean you had a cam hit a journal?

Are you saying the journals need to be align bored and honed?
Not many shops can do this.
If this needs to be done both the intake and exhaust sides need to be done together since the front cam cap is shared between the intake and exhaust.
