Default My build begins: 2.5l 9.8:1 with GT4088R

So the turbo kit is finally done, now it's time to start the motor build. First off, here's a little background.

ANTI-LAG VIDEO!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4uF6yCT_oYs

The car: Phil Grabows (element tuning) old time attack 2002 WRX that I bough about 6 months ago.

Mods as of today:

STOCK EJ257 longblock
TXS FMIC
TXS RFL Exhaust
Tial 50mm BOV
Custom downpipe
GTSpec Twin-scroll header and up-pipe
Custom Twin scroll up-pipe adapter
Turbosmart 48mm Wastegate
850cc Injectors
Walbro Fuel pump
AEM EMS w/ Wideband, IAT and 5bar map
DSS Level 5 Front and rear axles
PPG 1-4 SC Dog Engagement transmission w/ PPG prototype torsien center diff
Oh yea.. and a Garrett GT4088R

All this is being done on the stock motor for now. I dropped my case halves and crank off at the machine shop last week for the build. I'll be using Arias 9.8:1 Forged/coated pistons and Crower billet rods.

Now, the stuff I have that's not on yet.

Aeromotive eliminator 1200hp fuel pump
Aeromotive -8 Fuel rails
Custom ballisitics blanket for the bellhousing
Drag Radials.... Couple of other goodies

I'll keep everyone updated once I get the car fired up tomorrow and put it on the dyno for some baseline low boost pulls on the stock motor.

9.8:1, huh? That will make for an interesting tune. Let us know what you discover.

Why don't you break it in on the way over to Nebraska so we can run when you are done. I may have learned how to drive by then but I can't promise it.

Car fired yesterday. Still on the stock motor for now. We'll see how it holds up. It's going on the dyno as we speak.

Pump gas on the stock motor FTW! ;-) No race gas. Looks like it won't be getting tuned til the morning. I drove the car to the dyno on a base tune and let me just tell tou, Lag is not as bad as you would think on that big turbo. It has torque forever down low. I'll keep ya posted!

Should be interesting to see how the torque curve looks with compression that high!

How much boost are you planning on running??

How long do you think you will drive on the stock block before dropping in the built motor?

Awesome! I shall follow this thread with interest.

Some people in the UK have had good results from 4088's although they mostly used twin scroll versions
