Default EWG or STI cams on hybrid?which to buy first

first off my set up..
2.5l Hybrid STI block with WRX heads (w/30* back-cut valves)
Turbochargers.com TD05-18g ^7cm turbo
Un-equal length 1 piece header/up-pipe
MRT 3in downpipe
Stromung dual-tip catback
Mr. Josh Lightened crank pulley
TGV port and polish
Perrin short ram intake with Simoto Carbon Fiber MAF tube
Silicone Turbo inlet hose
Modded stock injectors flowing 825cc
Walbro 255lph fuel pump
JDM Sport 31*11*3 FMIC
NGK Irid. plugs one step colder

now, i can either buy a set of sti cams and have them installed before my tune in 2 weeks, or i can buy and make my EWG set up..
which is more important before the tune?
which will i see/feel more results?

the cams will be a bigger power adder properly tuned....

the engine pretty much has to be pulled to get to the cams so that alone is a chore.

I'm in the same boat here and I'll tell you what I did.

On my 2.0 I already had ewg set up (Element Tuning Uppipe with Tial 38mm) I bought used STi cams for $250 and plugged the holes for the AVCS (check this section I made a how to post.

Anyway, if the engine is already in do the EWG. You have to basically pull the motor to do cams and that is a TON of work although the STi cams will def give you some better top end.

I would do the cams if you plan on going bigger on the turbo. If you are going to stick with the 18g , just do the EWG. Sounds like you will do both eventually anyway.

Cams for sure. I don't know what the setup was on that car, but the cams were worth 60whp on the top end. Even if you ended up making half that in gains, it's still more than you'd get from an EWG.

well i opted for the ewg, i would rather get rid of any thought of boost creep before it happens.. cams will be my next power upgrade though...

Default cams vs ewg

Where are you in Houston? I am in Spring. I had an 02 hybrid before my sti. the wrx cams with the 2.5 block really die out at 5-6K rpm. I have some stage 3 dpr cams that would bring your motor to life. 300. i am not posting just to sell cams. you will really tell a difference if you use cams. 60 plus hp is a lot.

are those cams a good size for a hybrid??
they do require the springs and retainers and say have a slight lope at idle
