Default THinking about by a Legacy..DD..Track duty????

Hi, I am thinking about buying a legacy for a DD and will probably do some track events in it. It works for me because I can fit my Kart and its AWD. I was wondering what if any aftermarket upgrades these cars have? are Impreza parts work?

Subaru uses pretty much the same engine between the Impreza and Legacy, so most engine upgrades will work.

1999 and older, a lot of GC8 Impreza suspension components will interchange too.

Wheels will interchange except for the STis that don't have the 5x100 bolt pattern.

If you have anything more specific in mind try a search and if you can't find it someone will have the answer around here...

Virtually all Impreza parts work - what year Legacy are you looking at?

Are you on LERSOC.com - that's the local Subaru forum for anyone in Cleveland...

the '95 2.2 Liter engine is not a real athlete. However, it's unbelievably tough, as long as you don't try to turbo it. It's peppier with a 5-speed.

There are parts for it, but they're getting harder and harder to come by.

Interior pieces: Carpeting (With some work), and Seats from an STi will fit (with a little work, If you're less than 6 feet tall).

I haven't heard of a cheap Subaru intake that actually yields gains above and beyond the snorkus removal. Maybe if you go used?

WRX suspension parts are almost a direct fit - that has been discussed and you can search on that. Intake - no, since the WRX is turbocharged.

Ebay intake is like $30 new. I would change the crappy cone filter with a KN or something just in case you live in an area with a lot of dust or plan to rallyx the thing.

Otherwise, get tires, brakes, then suspension (in order of importance for track duty). Each can be gotten fairly cheaply if you're not picky and don't care about the new-part smell Sticky tires, some WRX brakes, good fluid, track pads, and an agx/ground control semi-coilover setup and I think you're good to go.

Engine parts...not really the best bang for the buck in modifying an NA subaru, unfortunately.

Bigger brakes do bolt on.... But you might need a bigger brake booster.

Suspension bits swap over.

Struts/coils swap over.

MOTORS swap over.

Piggyback EM DOES work, but not the greatest 100% of the time. But it does work SOME of the time. haha.

Power wise, you can also build a "stock" motor to be turbo/supercharged and do that with some piggyback EM....

It will still be pretty slow no matter what you do.
Just spend the money on tires, brake pads and entry fees and have fun with it. Make sure the cooling system is in A1 condition so you keep the headgaskets from popping. It's not a big concern with the 2.2l but you are talking about a 13 year old car and track abuse.
If you want to go crazy get it aligned with as much front camber as possible and a little toe out.
You can get some Porterfield RS4 drum shoes if you have rear drums.
