Hey Nasioc,
I purchased an 07 STi 2 months ago. @ 1900 miles i did the basic fuel pump, exhaust, and tune. The thoughts behind my purchase were simple, 11's on the stock turbo for the least amount of money as possible. Now, if you do not spend much time in the power proven bragging area, you would probably laugh at my project goal. However, I was getting damn close with my 04 STi on 93 pump - 12.46 @ 110.2 (full weight) - about a year ago. Anyways, I have problably have close to 100 1/4 mile passes under my belt, most in my 04 sti and most in the mid 1.6 60ft - 1.7 60ft range. I got to the track with 2300 miles on the car. My first run in my 07 was 12.43 @ 110 on 18psi and pump. My 60 ft was 1.700. So i thought that this was amazing being that my race gas tune makes 40 more whp from 4900-7000 RPM. With weight reduction 11's would not be a far stretch. Next run, launch a little higher (6k slip, matching increase of throttle with decrease in clutch to the best of my ability). I refuse to side step as I always did in my 04. The car traveled about a foot, then BOOM. It went no where. I wasn't pissed as I've played this game now for a few years. Ok, the rear passenger axle went, no biggie. I switched the diff all the way to the front and crept down the track. After turning the car off and restarting, I tried driving in auto, and it worked!! Ok, no axle. My buddy tkaes the car up on the highway right after, now thinking the clutch was some how fried, loaded 5th and 6th.... No slip... WTF!?! Next run, 1.7860ft. Next run, the bang happened again, with revs at redline and the car not moving. I went to the track last weekend, ran twice, happened again. Today on the highway on the way to the office, an s4 shot out into the distance from behind me and I couldnt help but downshift from 6th to 3rd @ 65 mph rev matching of course, BOOM, rev limit while in gear going no where. Im so pissed, has anyone had this happen to them. Oh, and after this happened this morning, i loaded up the tall gears, no slippage.

Mike, i appreciate it. You know any car guys in the area?? I have alot of suby friends and a few evo guys, we should meet up one night. I would take you up on the offer tonight, but I just finished yanking the seats for the next track day. Yes, im still praying the drivetrain will hold up and this will be a passing issue. We can take it for a spin soon, im actually very eager to see your set up as well. I have a few 35r buddies, but that power on pump and meth seems amazing. I would like to feel that boost hit, must be awsome.

Your car hates you.
Did you break the axle(s), or did it just feel like you broke them? |

Good GOD! This post deserves a sticky for "world's biggest putz."
6000+ rpm launch? YGTBFKM! It's a wonder you did not put a rod through the block already. And then you drop from 6 to 3rd on the hwy? Holy smoked tranny, Batman. Did the "rev maching" = 6500rpm? You know, these cars redline @ ~ 7k... Also, I am not sure if you know this, but our engine blocks are approx. the size of a home stereo receiver. Not a huge motor. Something's wrong, allright! IN FACT: MODERATORS: How about changing the title of this thread to EXCLUDE "07 STI." It is not the '07 car's fault. This seems like it just miiiight be "operator error." --sotc Last edited by saab-on-the-cobb; 09-21-2007 at 07:35 PM. |

Your car has a limited-slip-streetracer center diff. Works with the traction uncontrol button by your left knee. I bet you bumped it.

I am sure your car is thinking the same thing about you right now after abusing it like you have...seriously dude!
If it makes a noise like that...you tow it home from the track and figure it out...not drop into 3rd from 6th to 'streetrace' an audi the next day. You are lucky one guy even offered to help after reading this crap. |

Why would you even consider a second pass after having that kind of failure? Let alone a 3rd and a 4th time, followed by driving it home, drive it to work, then finally street race?
The car committed suicide. |

get off your soap boxes guys. its not like he said he was going 80 in a school zone. none of you guys have done a highway pull in third? yeah right. and by chance if your telling the truth, go trade the sti in for a taurus. you can beat on it outside of the track without endangering anyone. the last time i checked, kids werent crossing the freeway.
and to the o.p. could it have been the boost cut? |

well you wonder why everyone is bagging on this guy, what do you expect after he says, Yeah my car went boom, but i did a couple of more passes, oh then i raced the next day on the freeway, what could be wrong? hahaha did you even read what you wrote down. Why would you even consider racing, unless you totally dont care about the car.
