Cool Another Fast VF39

I tuned this car today. Its set up is very similar to downsti's who ran the 11.7. This car, however, has no EWG! Here's the mod list on this 06 STI:

Helix catless downpipe
Invidia Catback
Crucial P&P&C OEM Headers
APS 65mm CAI
APS inlet
Deatschwerks 650cc injectors
Walbro
Hallman MBC

completely stock, untouched VF39, stock TMIC

Here's the 91 chart:

And more importantly, the VP 109 Octane chart:

I'm extremely impressed that we could get these results with no EWG. I was even more impressed how well the maps from downsti's car adapted to this car. For reference, downsti's car was making 335whp/400ft-lbs when he ran 11.7 and trapped 115mph.

Thanks
-- Ed

This is Phung.

And Modaddict I will definitely track this car. Sean's record needs some validation and validating his record is the least I can do for all his, ron, friends, and ed's help.

Yep it's definitely not easy when there is only one person in the world who has done it on stock turbo (downsti) and only one tuner who tuned it (Ed)!

All I can say is the car is smoooth and torque is definitely close to neck breaking!

I loved how smooth your car came out too! You know the tune is spot on when the exhaust note mellows out. We could barely hear your car when you were pulling through the gears on your own!

Good work as usual, Ed.

I'm NOT trying to minimize the good work you do at all when I ask this, BUT I'm wondering something. Do you think that maybe in your dyno charts the reason the VF39 hold power better than other VF39 plots I see is because the road tuning you're doing allows the I/C to get the proper amount of air, rather than some dinky fan blowing on it or is it some magic tuning stuff you do?

The airflow certainly has a part in it, but it also takes some fine tuning of ignition timing up top to get power to consistently hold to redline.

Thanks
