Default HKS Carbon Titanium 3" Cat-back Exhaust!

I ordered a HKS carbon titanium catback 3" exhaust Monday from B-Spec USA. They shipped it to me the following day and I recieved it on thursday. This exhaust is made for a 2002 WRX but I modded it to fit my 2000 RS-t. the only mods that have to be made are the hanger on the axleback section needs to be relocated, and the flange that conectd to the downpipe neds to be rotated. This exhaust is very high quality and sound great. It is VERY quiet! I love it! I recommend it to all WRX owners! This is a big muffler and looks lage on my car, but I love it!

Thumbs up

Got one on my Rex.

Veeery nice piece, and the blued tip seems a perfect match for WRB paint. Could it be... coincidence? Satan? Hmmm???

...and the sound! Wow, not too many things not made out of flesh purr like that...

Only caveat is the reduced ground clearance...

Yeah it is a huge muffler with a huge pipe! Rubs on everything if your car is lowered!

No because I am turbo...3" is neccessary. You can get Cusco, or kartboy exhasut hangers and it bring the clearance up a little.'

The Ti on my Rex sounds, like, um, well, a boxer engine. If you've heard any of the 911 Porsches, it's similar to that. Has a nice burble/purr at idle that turns into music at higher RPMs. It's not annoyingly loud on the highway, and with the windows up, the stock stereo drowns the note out around a 10-12 volume setting. Hope that helps...

I dont think you understand....I have a WRX manifold, uppipe, downpipe, and TURBO! That mean that my car sounds just like a WRX...Make sense? I dont have a digital camera. Also my Advans are not on yet...they will be within a month and then my car will rock! I will get pics the same day!

Default whats the sizing on the pipe

what is the size on the piping. im thinking of getting this exhaust but a local performance shop is telling me to get the jic bullet exhaust which is a hell of a lot more expensiver. whats your overall reviews personally on the exhaust and is the performance gains tremendous? i also heard hks was suppose to release a downpipe to coorespond with the existing ti-exhaust.

The piping is 80mm...I feel no real performance gains except for an increase in my topend. The overall quality is great! I would reccommend it to anyone...that HKS downpipe may be canceled, I'm not sure

The reason the JIC is probably more expensive is because it's full titanium... you might be able to get the JIC 505 Ts (??) which would be like SUS piping and Ti muffler like the HKS allegedly is. I have a little trouble believing the HKS muffler is Ti wrapped in Carbon. I think the Tip just might be Ti. Anyway, if you like the looks of it, it's HKS you can't lose.

HKS only claims that the tip is Ti. they say that the muffler is SS wrapped in Carbon.

TurboBimmer,

From that pic, the exhaust looks very low to the ground. Just curious, about how many inches is the carbon part away from the ground? Because it would really suck if it hits a speed bump or backing up to something. Also, if it does hit something, is the carbon part easily cracked?

thanks,
jonathan

It is very low. Mine rubs when backing into my driveway. It wont crack, just slowly scrape away. It is only that low if you car is dumped like turboBimmer and mine!

Thanks for the reply adamsrs. When you said " if the car is dumped" do you mean like an inch or like couple inches? Also, someone mentioned about exhaust hanger that raise the exhaust, and how many inches does it raise up?

thanks again,
jonathan

Talking JIC MAGIC!!!!!!

Getting back to the Jic-Magic exhaust, that one looks like the best bet.
As soon as I get my02 I will get rims and the bullet Spartan 505. If I can get an extra $200 maybe the 503!
Just knowing that the ENTIRE exhaust is titanium and that it wont corrode for years is awesome. I think the only difference between the 503 and 505 is that the 503 is one-piece and can be upgraded with different parts (egt sensor, silencer etc.)
Since Jic is new to the US market its gonna be awhile before they get respected like HKS, Greddy, Apex-i and Tanabe. But their products look cool and sounds like they will function good.
peace

Default 1.8" drop seems ok with the HKS Ti

Latest report - I lowered my car about 1.8" using the Apex springs. Speed bumps, steep parking garage ramps, etc, have not been a problem with this exhaust. No scraping yet

My car is lowered about 2.5 inches with 18" wheels bringing it about 1/2" closer to the ground, the Cusco hangers bring it up about 1/4th inch, but not bad when you are that low!

I got this exhaust in the mail today, had it on 2 hours later!! It's really nice...nice tone..nice look...even the flamed tip matches the car. Much props to HKS for releasing this
