Default I Think I Used the Wrong Oil :(

Shell Rotella T 15W-40 Triple Protection

That is the weight and brand I wanted, but after I installed it I realized that there is a different kind that is for both diesel and gasoline engines, while the stuff I bought appears to be Diesel only. Should I go get the right stuff (This, I assume) immediately or will I be OK with the Diesel-only oil for a thousand miles or so? I was only planning to use it for my next track day and then change back to a lighter synthetic for the winter.

Thanks,
Dan

That wasn't listed on the bottle for some reason. I didn't think it be a big deal but I wanted to double check. I don't want to give my 175k mile VF39'd motor any more reasons to roll over.

The "Triple Protection" stuff is the new, CJ-4 spec, which is the stuff you want. The other link you posted is to an older formulation that is no longer in production and isn't as good as the new, Triple Protection stuff you have. Are you absolutely positive that your bottle(s) don't have any Sx ratings listed on them (i.e. SL, SM, or anything of that sort)? All of the gallon jugs I've seen, bought, and/or used have an Sx listing on them. Either way, you have the item you want; don't drain it, just run it and be very happy with yourself for running a good fluid!

EDIT: From the top page you linked, there's a link to this page. Read the very bottom paragraph (last line or two) and you'll see that the oil you bought is also SM rated, which again is exactly what you want.

Great oil, but keep an eye on your gas mileage.

No, but I bought it off the first owner who used it as a commuter car. He obviously didn't abuse it because he had only just replaced the clutch a few months ago, which caused 2nd gear to go, which caused him to sell it to me. Gas mileage felt pretty good after my first drive, but that may be thanks to much less boost down low with the VF39 as compared to stock.

Oh and the bottle does have the SM/SL/SJ ratings on it but somehow both my dad and I missed them when we first looked.
