Default need some expert advice

hey, i have a 2005 sti and i was really thinking about pulling hte motor and building it this winter. im really shooting for a little over 400 wheel hp but the key thing being that i want it to be really reliable. i already have an exhaust and cobb stg 2 with a protune. so my question is what do i need to do to make this possible? i was also wondering what kinda money this is going to cost me ballpark? any input would be great. thanks.

Pistons are weakest link in your car and it's seems like it's already starts to giving up on you. Do a compression test to verify that you do not have a broken ring land. And with 60k on your car there is a still a possibility that you can reuse your heads. Are you going to do it yourself or what.

if its a kinda of simple task i wouldnt mind doin it myself. i have a shop with all the tools that i would need if i did decide to do it myself. it the matter of trusting myself with doing it. i was thinkin about having a shop do it so they can do the whole build and tune though. although i am always down for saving money and learning in the process.
