It wouldn't really be a charity. At this point it's a cause. It's something we want to see come into fruition that's just too close to not have done.

i've been creeping this since i first trolled nasioc years ago. to see you come this close and then call it quits to make tables and mugs is almost heart breaking. if anything sell it to someone willing to continue the build, or sell it to nick or to 'nasioc' and then we can support it with funds and it can be built that way and become like the official 'nasioc' car, which just happens to be one of the rarest subaru's in the states.

either way it's not charity, its us knowing what it takes to love a car and the prices that go with it. everyone is volunteering to donate as little or as much as they want to see this succeed. i'd love to see this run just like the hundreds of guys here. i beg you to not stop now, it would be a great loss as i doubt a project like this exists in some one's garage anywhere else.

Where did he say he was stopping the build? Kosta said he was getting rid of his spare parts.

I'm not dismantling the car for parts to sell, I have loads of stuff I didn't use.

Although if I find another block, this one will either be a table, or exploded by a quarter ton of TNT

For what it's worth, I did ask around for a block locally, but as you might imagine, sourcing parts for old imports is very hard in Michigan. On top of that there's only one nearby yard I've been to that doesn't crush everything older than 10 or 15 years. The best I could find there were Datsun parts from the same era, which obviously aren't much help.

I am down to donate, I have been following this since it started. Honestly it is one of the only reasons I come back to NASIOC.

Kosto, I live about 45 min from Colorado Springs, I'd be more then happy to take a trip to where you got the motor and try to help out.

I hope you'll let your NASIOC family help you replace the block. We've been following this thread for years and to see the car now compared to the first pictures you posted...the thought of not being able to complete it is like watching someone's pet get euthanized because the bank foreclosed on their home.

I know you can afford to replace it yourself some day (you've already put a ton of money into it), but it seems like a lot of people really want an opportunity to help out and they say often the people who contribute get more out of the act than the people receiving the gift. (Sorry to sound so girlie, but I AM a chick.)

I hope you can get past the block deceit and forge ahead. (I have a hard time believing the guy wasn't aware of the hole when he sold it to you.) Whether you do or not, thank you for all the time you spent uploading pics and such. It was a great restoration!

Folks, yes, this is a very impreasive build, but please read the whole thread. We've taken on a tone of sympathy for Kosta, here, as he's hit a big bump in the road. Let's try and offer our help rather than our W00ts!
