That's an amazing find. My grandfather was an old Subie guy, he would have tears in his eyes seeing the condition of it. It's going to be gorgeous when it's done.

That is an interesting find. The floor boards sould not be too bad to repair since they apear to be pretty flat compared to most cars. Also have fun with the inboard brakes I have had to deal with them on a few alfas and they are no fun to work on. So is that thing close to the size of mini cooper or does it just look that way?

153.5" long, 58.17" wide, 54.72" high... Its pretty small, but not original mini cooper small.

Day 4:

Well I spent today cleaning up the engine bay and under the engine bay with water, simple green, and some brake cleaner...

I also washed the car for the first time, and removed the "P.O.S." painted on the trunk.

I lowered it onto all four wheels finally too... The fronts clear fine so far, but the rears once someone gets in the car hit the fenders...

Anyway, heres some pics from today!

That's awesome! I remember reading about the one Subaru has a long time ago in their magazine. You're making progress already. Can't wait to see it when it's done

Day 5:

So today I didnt have much time to work, but I managed to get the rotten rear seats out and vacuum up back there (didn't wipe things down yet)... Didnt take much time or work, but it did give me a MUCH clearer idea of what i'm working with..

For reference, this car doesnt seem to have frame rails. And that black cover on the rear seat is the top of the gas tank. That rear strut-bar looking thing is basically just a seat brace. VERY different chassis from most modern cars.

As you can see, the floor board definatly has to go. I'm not sure what to do about that yet, I need to get in contact with some sort of restoration shop in order to deal with the bodywork this car needs...

Anyone have any local references in my area??? (Sacramento, CA)

Anyway, heres the pics...

I put this diagram together via the FSM to show how the body is actually constructed...

Nice updates, I particularly like your diagram of the body construction. That floorboard looks very simple to replace, any shop with restoration experience should be able to weld in a sheetmetal replacement.
