at least we know it doesn't have much torque so it shouldn't break the motor mounts and dent the hood. It might hit it under acceleration though.

Any plans on intended use? Gonna try autoXing it or taking it to an HPDE? That would be sweet!

Been following this for some time now. It's looking very good. Can't wait till your first vid of you driving it down the street and back. I am thinking it will probably involve sitting on a milk crate and no windows but that's the very reason I am excited.

all I can say is "wow". I read the first page and then skipped to the last two. Now I'm going to start reading the entire thread.

I suck at wiring...

I managed to get the rear harness (tail lights, etc.) mostly complete exept the license plate light and I got the wiring for the hood blinkers in place excluding the horns. I also got the MSD wiring to the disty and coil pack setup and connected.

Things I have to subtract from the harness:

Distributor wires and coil wires (going to go through the MSD ignition)
Voltage regulator (Alternator has internal regulator supposedly)
Dome light, door switches and buzzer are not being re-used.
Radio/speaker wiring.

Things I have to add to the harness:

Hella horns and whatever they need.
MSD ignition and its connections.
Tachometer (not sure how or if the factory type tach can be wired to work with the MSD ignition)
New and improved cig lighters (actually just power sockets, but there are two now instead of just 1)

I'm sure I'll remember something else later, but ya, I'm ready for some help with this.

I've been reading this thread the past two days at work. AMAZING work. I've followed a few other builds on differnet forums and they usually end up not getting close to what you've done here, and that was with cars produced post 2002. It sucks that all I can contribute is encouragement to finish.

Love the progress! Can you imagine how many miles these cars would have lasted if this much care was put into each ones assembly?!

It goes without saying...brilliant job!

Curious if SOA or FHI has picked up on this build at all. Im sure either would be very interested. Partial $ponsorship, maybe?

Again, hell of a job Kosta, keep it up!

Best regards,
-adam

I have a question though, is this a push-rod engine? If so, where does the cam hide on these things? Or are these a sort of motorcycle style engine with a chain going from the crank to each cam?

You get an F for not doing your homework!

No seriously, I posted photos of the internals with the camshaft a few pages back.

Glass is installed

The front molding has issues but its solid and fits. The rear molding is in perfect shape so no issues there.

Still incredible and the best restomod on the web.

I'd gladly help with that harness if I wasn't in Michigan. At least that's a pretty simple harness compared to a modern vehicle. It looks to be in good shape too, but I would still replace all the wires.

Is there a reason you're ditching the dome light? I only ask because I've had cars with non functioning dome lights and that situation can be very annoying.

I don't need a dome light, I never use mine in my Impreza. I never park in dark alley ways nor do I plan on going camping with this car in a place with zero lighting. And the factory one in this car was falling apart anyway, as were the door switches for it. I'll just throw a LED flashlight in the glove box in case of emergency.

The wiring harness is indeed pretty simple, I bet anyone with any automotive wiring experience could figure this one out in an hour or so.
