Default local electrical help with headlight swap

I know there are people in teh SWIC with electrical skills. I will pay, just need help!

A buddy and I are swapping his 05 STI headlights into my car with the levelers, and putting my 05 WRX headlights in his STI track car. Im a novice at best when it comes to electrical stuff.

Anyone wanna lend a hand? I am off thursday and friday this week so ill be available all day on both. The other guy may not be available, but if you let me know what I need to take out I can do it throughout the week.

Thanks for the help guys!

Yessir, just makin the STI lights work on my car, and the WRX on his. Id like the levelers hooked up now too, but I could wait as long as I had headlights.

My main thing is getting the headlights to function correctly right now. I will worry about levelers later. I was told Rich from Avondale is good with this stuff, but I dont have a contact number for him to see whats up.

Someone has to have done this before in teh SWIC?

the headlight swap should be fairly easy. it shouldn't be an issue making a leveler harness just get the hardware off of the donor car.

I've done it.

You can buy the harness from subaru to splice onto the headlights so that you don't have to hack up your wiring on the car. It will allow the splice in harness from the ballast connect to the stock low beam harness on your car. Makes for a cleaner install and easier to go back to stock.

There's several different theories;
1.) power wiring on the car for low beam is not sufficient to power the ballast, so use a relay to take direct draw of power off of the battery.
2.) wiring for power is sufficient, but ground for the low beam is insufficient to ground the ballast, so run a separate ground from the ballast to the car chassis.

I went with #2 and grounded each ballast to the fender. Been fine for over a year.

As for the auto leveler wiring, this is a pain and I haven't done it yet. There is a guy up in canada that can make the entire harness etc for about 150 bucks. I can get you his name if you want, but I haven't actually bought from him yet.

Do you have a part number for this harness?

I also need to have my WRX headlights put onto the STI, would I just buy a second harness for his as well?
